Wardi - stick with the smaller races. Good going on the 60m week..........my hip still aches, the old glute issue was more noticeable on the turbo though .....once I'm moving its ok, I stiffen up when i sit still, the newest wound is right on the top of my knee cap, and cracks open again.

LMH - I want to be able to do sessions etc again with minimal glute aggro before I race again. I won't try to run faster for a while.

Well dodged there Wardi 🤭
DT well ran after a sesh on the sauce.
TR probably a good call on not racing.

My 5 mile beach race went well. It is handicapped on age so favours old boys and girls. Anyway I came 3rd. The winner a v45 man made up 5 mins on me. The lady in second, a fv55 had 4 mins headstart and beat me by just 6 secs. I won a sprint finish with another v60 after nip and tuck the whole race. We also won the team race. All in all fairly satisfied and a decent pay day. The knee was okayish.
Tomorrow is the probably a catch up on the long run I missed today.

Tr, yes if I start being an inflexible bore now, my wife will be pretty fed up by late January!

Wardi, that's top mileage. You've definitely come back with a blast ftom the longer term injury.

Oo, top bombing today, well done on the placing.

Some big results in Valencia today, despite the warmth. Seems sub 2.05 is the new normal, top 10 all hitting that.

I feel like a definite sway to Malaga next year. It's 3 weeks before my 50th and means I can train September- November.

Must say, legs feel like I haven't run today which is always a good sign I'm in a fit place. I feel like training has suggested I'm good enough for a better result than my parkrun and 5m race post Chicago l delivered.

Evening all

Great racing OO

Top session (Saturday night by the sounds of it 😁) and Sunday. Great time management.

TR I can see the sense in not racing till all is right.

Great week wardi

Still not running but Achilles is feeling the benefit of a rest from running and plenty of calf raises. Did spend a few hours leisurely walking around climber park today which hasn’t made the injury worse. May try a small slow run on Tuesday.

OO - Nice! Sounds like a great way to mark your 60th birthday. What’s the target?

TR - you’ve had a lot of bad luck this year. I hope next year is more satisfying from an R.O.I. perspective.

DT - still a great run after a bit of sesh. Liking the idea of your half century race plans. Malaga sounds great.

Wardi - you seem to be doing well, all things considered. 60 mpw is great going.

OO61 - sounds like a well executed race. Did you win a cash prize?

A decent weekend of running for me and all went to plan. 10 miles on Saturday with 2 x 2 mile reps at around 6:40 pace. Been ages since I’ve done a longer rep session. I quite enjoyed it and the weather played ball. Easy 5.5 miles today with a little pick up in pace at the end. Legs felt fresh after yesterday. Building back up slowly. Aiming for around 50 mpw by Xmas. Will start increasing the longer runs.

My friends were a mixed bag in Valencia. The best was 2:49. Some comments about the heat but for the slower runners I think. Glad you are feeling fresh.
Nice long run Ger. No cash just vouchers but handyvfor Christmas presents 😉
Do you do calf raises on stairs Riggys?

Morning

Sounds promising Gerard

OO61 at the moment I struggle to do a single leg heel drop below the step on my injured side. Can do it 2 footed. Most of the raises are done going up on both legs transferring weight to injured side holding for 5 seconds then back on both feet and down. I can do some single leg raises on injured side if warmed up.

I see Riggys it must be very sore still. At least you can easily measure progress.

Glad to hear there's progress riggys. No choice but to be patient rehabbing an achilles.

About This Thread

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
