Joolska
Morning, all. Sorry I've been absent for so long, and I'm afraid I've not managed much of a read back. Life has been a bit hectic and expensive (including emergency removal of an eye for one of the moggies), but hopefully back on an even keel now. Ticking over at about 25-30 mpw the last couple of weeks.

Sorry to read of Achilles problems and other niggles. The S&C will pay off eventually!

Gerard - they close the lake path and stop the parkrun when it gets too wet.

OO - with the 6.30 pace 7mm group?

Sounds stressful Jools

Morning weights/bike commute, evening 7m.

TR - Tonight as we had some hills the 6.45 pace 7mm group, and with cd, magically 7mm. About 10 miles in all.

Joolska - Good to hear from you, sounds traumatic.

OO.. 17 degrees sounds warm but not too steamy, hope it stays like that for you. Enjoy the club run. I'm flying from LBA to Tenerife, handy as it's about a 35 min drive for us.

Jools.. wishing your cat a swift recovery, they are usually good ar adapting to new situations though.

TR.. hope your runs are feeling more comfortable.

10.7m earlier, very nice morning here though it started to get wet and windy in the evening.
I fly out early tomorrow so looking forward to a bit of warmth and the occasional cool beer.

Evening

Nice to hear from you Joolska hope the cat is ok. Sounds like a tough time. Decent milage to tick over on. I am sure you will be increasing it in time.

Nice mix of training TR

Good sounding club run OO

Sounds like you’re in a good place DT

Improvement today now able to raise on both legs then drop slowly down below the step on the injured leg. Bit naughty but i did just under 2 miles as a run walk. No increased pain but still a reduction in strength/power in that leg. So far no adverse effects from run.

Good to hear from you Jools. Hopefully the moggie is doing well sans eye!

OO - thanks for asking. Not quite smooth sailing, but could be a lot worse. You're sounding in good form! Enjoy Malaga and the big birthday! Very low RHR!

Welcome GerardM.

riggsy - sorry the race went pear shaped.

DT - sounding in good shape!

I've only had a quick scan back but it seems like a mix of good form and niggles. I've had a few fluttery episodes again so was checked out and told that I'm flip-flopping between being in afib and a regular rhythm so they're sitting on the fence waiting to see how it ends up. My overnight RHR is holding steady at 40bpm +/-, and I'm sleeping well again, so this week I got back to walking (only about 2km a day), and even got in the gym for 10 minutes!!

My previous comments about racing being a thing of the past for me was not defeatist, but rather a pragmatic acceptance. Heart failure is manageable, but incurable, so the only way I could race properly would be if it turned out they'd misdiagnosed me (and tbh even if they had I'm not sure I could mentally do it). I'll get to run again at some stage I'm sure, and I may even turn out for a race in the future, but I'll be in a complete, not compete mindset.

In the meantime I have taken on 3 coachees. All at a roughly comparable level so it will be interesting to see how it plays out. Plus I'm on the hunt for a new, probably more cerebral, hobby to fill my spare time.

TT that sounds very pragmatic. One pal of mine took a year out after having a pacemaker fitted. He slowly came back and just ran Valencia, well below his original level but within 20-30 minutes of that.
Good to hear from you Jools and sorry about your poor cat.
Getting close for Malaga OO. My daughter and boyfriend are also going over for the half and a few days holiday. He's aiming at 1:14.
I did a hard track session on Tuesday (10*200), then a mile race yesterday. It was wet and windy and I couldn't really be bothered pushing too hard. It came out as 5:46 on garmin but somehow the manual timer got 5:55. Just glad I can train hard in spite of a creaky knee. I'd definitely like to be in the 18s for parkrun, hopefully closer to 18:30 this week.

Riggsy, sounds positive, dont push your luck too much though.

Enjoy, Wardi. Weather here is all over the place, was 14c and shorts and t shirt again this morning, then it's all change again for something worse on the weekend.

Jools, sorry to hear about the cat, though as Wardi says they are extremely good at adapting.

TT- Sounds like a continuing worry for you. Good that you are adding to the coachee numbers however.

oo, good work on the track session.

TR, hopefully kess sore today?

Gerard, I suppose they felt that for the Majors to be truly global they had to take it to Australia, Africa and Asia hence also adding Capetown and Shanghai in the next few years. I'm stopping at 6 though.

10M with strides Tuesday then 6m random fartlek yesterday. 4m recovery first thing today and spin this evening.

So the weather looks to have totally capitulated now for the whole weekend. The 40mph winds whilst I race feel like i've dodged a bullet compared to the forecast for Saturday! Frustrating that I won't get a true reflection of current fitness. Though I can't complain as this is the first race this year where the weather has been of such a level to materially impact on performance.

I hope it settles TT. Good attitude.

TR isn't racing this weekend is he? Absolutely pants weather here at the minute - very heavy rain and windy - only forecast to get worse - gusting up to 60mph on Saturday! Strangely tomorrow doesn't look too bad. Will just be a case of avoiding the floods.

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
