Evening all

Wind picking up here tonight already

TR hopefully a reduced December will get you ready for a great 2025.

DT good luck in the race.

Sounds like a good days training OO61

Good run OO enjoy the rest day.

Great positive attitude TT the coaching sounds interesting.

Feeling more positive about the progress of my injury. Probably won’t run over the weekend unless I do a mile or so run/walk on the wife’s treadmill. Scrapped plans to go to the van mainly because of the driving (lots or HGVs on M18/M180/A180).

Have a good weekend folks

I hope you do get the weather to race DT19. Not looking good here. Today is the worst of it but tomorrow is forecast to be wet with winds gusting around 45mph.

Not going to the van this weekend sounds like a sensible move riggys. Great that your achilles is improving quickly.

Morning LMH. Thanks.
The forecast for home is currently better than that for the Van. Hopefully the wind should die down Sunday afternoon so will probably try a run/walk then.

TR - Maybe spice up your race calendar and put an overseas race in there? At best, you have a great time and holiday, and have a good run. At worst, you have a good few days away in the sun. Its rejuvenated my running and incentivises my training as its became a kind of tourism in itself now. Not expensive, Verona recently and Malaga next week was is c£100 entry and flights.

DT - Yes really sensible decisions, cancelling those. Building up here now, going to peak early afternoon with gusts of 72-73 mph. My cold has worsened so a good time to spend a day in bed, and good to have it a week before the marathon. Good luck for to tomorrow.
Riggsy - Good news there's improvement.

I've no races cancelled because of the weather but remember doing a cycling sportive, the Exmoor Beast, in around 2004 in similar windy conditions and dozens of us were cycling over Exmoor (exposed and pretty high up) and nearly all hit the deck blown over. We were all cycling hard into the wind and going about 5 mph at the time so no real injuries! That was enough for many, who turned around and went called it a day. Thankfully the wind died down the route became more protected so able to finish.

Greetings from Tenerife - from what I'm reading about the UK storms all I can say is 'wish you were here'. Very pleasant here, about 22 degrees currently and 4mph winds.
I'm going in search of a running route today, the geography here is quite unusual so could be a challenge. We do have a pool here so a swim is another option.

I hear York Parkrun went ahead as they only had winds of 10mph at 9am. Calm before the storm!

Ouchouch, that cycling sounds utterly grim! Definitely a good day all in for you to need to stay home.

Wardi, that sounds very nice in comparison. I'd be in smug mode!

Riggsy, being in a van would definitely be low on fun in this so good choice to stay home. Good to hear the positivity re injury.

Lmh, wind has shifted again tomorrow so back to 40mph wind!

Blustery and raining here, nothing crazy as yet. Been out to shops early so limited need to leave house today now.

Wardi - Ha ha, wish I was. We stayed in Puerto Santiago a few years ago, and you can run from Gigantes through there, past Arena beach to the end of the resort/ the built up area, where there is some flat, alongside the sea, rather desolate though. As you say a challenging place to run. As you run back just past Puerto Santiago there is a sea pool which is worth a visit/ dip/ cool off.

The dog has taken one look outside and come back in.

We're just on the edge of the red alert area here in Bristol (I suspect it's really for those nearer the Bristol Channel, but got the official government message last night), but it seems OK at the moment. Although that is based on a 4 minute walk to a gym class and back! Neither of the cats is showing any inclination to leave the house, so the one eyed boy is on my lap as I type.

I hope the coaching goes well, TT. One of the coaches at my club stopped competing due to heart issues but found coaching really rewarding.

I agree some downtime is likely to help, TR. Amateurs need it just as much as pros. I used to love my post-marathon month of sloth in my competing days.

DT19: I hope your race survives the weather and you still get a good (weather adjusted) result.

Wardi: you timed that holiday well!

Wardi very jealous, it's truly grimm here in the North East, but jogged a parkrun before the storm arrived.

Good day-to-day stay home with cats Jools.
Glad your feeling more positive Riggys.

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
