Gerard - prolific racer Ollie garrod has run Jersey the last couple of years.

5m easy in, bit banged up and hip aches but mainly disappointed that I've more wounds that need to heal over, and need to be covered.

I've had a light month before Gosport and had 3 or 4 non running days since, so I'm only just scraping 200m for November. But that's not a bad thing at the mo.

Gerard, likely she will do as that will be closest to her, though Solihul isn't too far along the m42. You'll have to message me her name, I might know her. Though unless she does spin on monday or Thursday then it's unlikely.

I have a 10m race a week sunday. It is also the Midland Masters 10m champs. Also the race has it's own prize groups split into 5 year age groups, so hopefully of something out of the day that way as it isn't a PB course, neither is the weather usually pb friendly. Think it'll be my 5th running of the event.

Not many mobile saunas i these parts as yet.

OO, I am keen to get to one of these Spanish marathons soon for sure. 5M beach run sounds like a bit of an effort!

TR, that is (more) bad luck. Hope yuo are feeling OK from it.

wardi, pretty chilly here (though im shorts regardless) but looks like back to summer clothing next couple of days.

Hill session over lunch with 30,45,60,60, 45,30 second hill sprints then 15 min Kenyan hills then 45,60,90,90,60,45 seconds hill sprints. 11m with wu and cd.

That gives me 203m for November which is low however with a race taper, immediately followed by a sickness bub then a trip to Lisbon, I lost 9 days of normal running this month. Also in a me v me scenario that is actual my highest ever November, beating 2020 by 1 mile. Rest day tomorrow.

TR.. much sympathy, sore wounds are an unfortunate way of keeping the running handbrake on.

Gerard.. thanks for asking, the knee is slowly improving. The kneecap is still a bit sore but as the swelling and inflammation has gradually reduced I can bend the knee more freely. I can sense it when I run but it's not niggling like it was last week. Good luck with your mileage build up, I've been doing the same since my successful injection.

Re.tree roots, the Sustrans paths that I run on a couple of times a week have a few sections where the roots have pushed up the tarmac. I know where the lumps are now so watch where I'm putting my feet. A bit more tricky recently due to leaf coverage. Fortunately most of the trail tarmac paths have been re-laid in recent years as money has become available. Smooth as silk on those sections.

DT19.. that's a tough hill session topped up to 11m, nicely done. Yes shorts here again today though felt a bit raw.

5.2m today, now my knee is moving more freely I plan to have a bash at Parkrun tomorrow. Forecast is 9-10 degrees in the morning which is decent.

Good luck DT hope you get a nice pre Christmas race.
Glad the knee is improving Wardi, isn't it such an annoying fecking injury...
Gerard those sound like great retirement plans, let me be your first visitor in Spain . Youd better get cracking with your Duolingo😆
Knee felt crap on an easy 5 miler with my wife this morning. Got home from Keswick and hit the pool. 3k swim full of frustration.
The beach run is great fun, but not sure my knee will appreciate it.

TR - Bad luck with the root and injuries - I have an ability to seek them out too. Number 1 girl is very sought after here, my wife, my daughter or the dog, it's the dog!

OO - Unlucky on the knee, how soft/ yielding was the sand on the beach? Nearly 500 PR, impressive.

Gérard - The beachside sauna sounds great, the cold water immersion less do. But people are devotees to this.
DT - Good Kenyan hills session, looking like a very decent week for you.

Wardi - Have a good PR tomorrow.

Easy 10k here and a gym, swimming and rowing hour at the local leisure centre. First look at Malaga weather, a very pleasant 20C.

TR - I saw OG. He was 2nd in 2:27 this year. His quickest on that course. His Po10 is eye watering. Unbelievable amount of races.

DT - my sister lives in Paris Mon-Fri. She uses the spa/gym facility on the weekend. I just ask her which one. 10 mile is a great distance to race. Not many of them round here but there was one last week. F7 headwind for the last 2 miles. Grim.

Wardi - fingers crossed it’s settling down. Knee injuries are just awful.

OO61 - that knee niggle sounds like a pest. Haha, funny you should say that. T has been practicing Spanish on Duolingo for >4 years. She has a remarkable 1,540 day streak! I used to live in the Canary Islands as a youngster, so I can speak the lingo a bit (albeit, it was a very long time ago now) but I can get by. T now reads books and listens to podcasts in Spanish. Well done on the epic swim!

OO - very nice mix of exercise there. When is your Malaga race? Sounds fab. I really don’t like the cold water but it’s great for the legs. I don’t do it for the zen vibe that a lot of people seem to. It’s really just therapy for my legs, plus the wood-fire sauna gets unbelievably hot. The sea water is great for the skin too. Another thing I quite enjoy about it is you can book with a few friends and it’s a lovely way to catch up. It’s a nice alternative to the pub or a coffee place.

Weather was so nice here today but I was disciplined and stuck to the plan of a zero day. I would run everyday if I could. Hopefully I will feel nice and fresh for tomorrow’s run. Looking forward to the Valencia marathon on Sunday. Last year Bekele ran a sensational 2:04. I keep thinking he’s finished but then he does something remarkable like that and his 2:04 in London this year too. The greatest distance runner ever imho.

Tr, x post yesterday. Sounds like you're just about holding together.

Wardi, good news on the knee, hope parkrun goes well. Just at sons footy and it says 12c. Won't even need my coat.

Nice bit of mixed work, Ouchouch. That sounds lovely in Malaga.

Oo, sorry to hear your knee continues to pose a problem. Are you on the ibuprofen gel?

On that front, when I was in Chicago I picked up a roll on bottle of salonpas as it seemed to be the go to for Americans from the groups I followed. Used it on my thumb area Thursday and yesterday as it had randomly got very sore and bit swollen. Worked a treat.

Gerard, I feel the same today, feels a total waste not to run as it'd be shorts and t shirts.

I'm about to have to let go of 2 pairs of alphafly. Starting to get aches and they are falling apart. I picked up a decent pair 6 weeks ago for £20 then yesterday bought a race worthy pair off Ebay for £43 delivered. There seems to be AF3 appearing now at ok prices and I think thar is driving down the going rate for AF1.

Top session and bargain hunting DT, I bought some Vomero to squirrel away, but they were still £100 with 25% off.

OO61 - hope those knees settle soon. Don't try to make them go round a track too much.

Ouch - hope that weather holds

I've had two really light weeks since Gosport, started to wonder if i could run the Goodwood HM tomorrow, but the fall put paid to that. Probably just as well, as i still have to sore glute issue, that I don't want to annoy anymore, I think tripping didnt do it any favours.........so my aim now is to get to January in a better place health, fitness, glute/hammy issue, and mobility wise that I got to December in.

Easy miles this morning, loosened up after a while then things started aching, but I'm able to move so it should ease off in a day or 3.

TR.. us old folks falling over is usually bad news, we don't seem to bounce back the way we used to. Hope you get some better luck once everything has healed and calmed down. Good that you got out for a run.

OO61.. shame that your knee keeps flaring up. Do you know what's causing it?

I didn't go full tilt at Parkrun as I wanted to test the knee at a brisk pace. All went well as I eased round in 23.44. Still a it stiff but no discomfort at all so pleased with how it went. Added miles before & after to make up 10.5m. Lovely morning and conditions at the racecourse.

LMH.. FV60 Treena Johnson showed up at York this morning. She clocked 19.23 for a modest age grade of 103%. 🙄

DT19.. always nice to find a pair of favourite shoes at a bargain price. I just missed out on a pair of NB's that I had been looking for.

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
