LMH - thank you. Yes, I have. OO61 and I ran it together in 2018 that is until he dropped me at about 20 miles and recorded his first ever negative split whilst I imploded and jogged in a 3:14. It’s not a quick course. Has a valley section of about 3 miles with about 400ft of climbing on that section and there’s about 4 miles off road on a trail path. It’s quite scenic and usually attracts about 300-500 runners. Someone of your calibre of athlete could win it. I’d say it’s 5 mins slower than a fast flat city marathon. I’ll probably run it again at some point. If you need any local info I’m happy to help you.
TR - cheers. Are you racing again soon?

Welcome Gerard, your injury travails sound similar to mine in terms of regularity. I used to be almost invincible when I was younger (I'm 67 now).
OO61.. Thanks I did enjoy your podcast, interesting that you don't really bother with the S&C stuff. I think my 'running tilt' a year ago was due to core neglect. Perhaps the swimming is compensation enough for you. Still, your achievements show that as always there is more than one way to skin a cat! My club old guy I mentioned did very similar to you. Very good runner 30s & 40's then took a racing break for family & business. Came back at 56 and started winning prizes.
LMH..very remiss of me to forget about the cobbles in the York Marathon (Parliament Street). Re favourite marathons, ignoring home/abroad debates - probably Barca & Valencia for me. Big City marathons without the hype and overcrowding at London, and now Berlin. I feel lucky to have run the latter two before the organisers got obsessed with squeezing more & more runners in.
TR.. some sympathy here, wet cycling is no fun at all.
11m today, a bit of light drizzle to start but gradually improved to blue sky as I did a few laps of the racecourse. Knee is now 5/10 compared to 1/10 last week.

Riggsy, yes Yorkshire was a nice marathon. My first sub 3 so always has a slightly special place with me! Must get back there soon.
Gérard, good to see you made it here. Looking forward to see you during some consistency together.
Wardi, knee progress sounds good. You're putting some good miles in.
Tr, how old was the birthday.....assuming it's not your wife who got a sqeeky dragon!
Ouchouch, good work on the tempo block.
Lmh, I'm still of view that this is better than 25c with 95% humidity. Wasn't too bad here today. Sunny, blue skies but chilly.
30 mins s and c first thing then 11m mlr over lunch. No residual fatigue after yesterday's session which is odd (in a good way) as if I'd turned up at parkrun and run a 17.50 (as I pretty much did 4 weeks ago) I'd feel it on the Sunday. Definitely a good sign.

Cheers Wardi and good news on the knee. I'm walking in the Lakes this week which my knee seems notvto like when combined with runs the same day. I always credit Gerard for my first negative split. I learned a lesson in Jersey that day.
DT you are a machine 💪

Thanks, oo. I'll give you're podcast a listen on a run next few days. Its struck me recently that could do so much more with the 8-10 hours a week I run than listen to a Spotify playlist!

You're very kind Gerard unfortunately I don't think I'm a runner of much calibre anymore. Age, injuries and illnesses catching up with me!
Good news that your knee is continuing to improve Wardi.
OO61 - it's probably the undulations. My consultant told me that if I wanted to increase the useable life in my knees I have to avoid ups and downs.
Whereas I'd take the heat and humidity DT19.
Colder here again today but I'm working so won't be running and should stay warmer.

DT I used to listen to podcasts when I did business travelling but hardly ever since I retired. LMH, yes the ups and downs, plus stop starting. Any session that has rest recoveries is a major issue when I start running again after pause.
