If you look back OO it's usually more like 12-15 in most years. This year has been a bumper crop. I know many of those sub 3 V60 guys. The fastest turned 60 this year and beat me at Chester by c8 minutes. I follow a few on strava and fascinating to see how they train- very different to me in most cases.

Hope your motivation recovers LMH 🤭

Afternoon

Great session DT

Nice quicker bit of running OO

Still not running due to Achilles but walking better. Started back with double leg raises as single too painful at moment.

Looking at The Yorkshire marathon in York 19 October as my main marathon next year. Plenty of time to recover and build up. Anyone done it ?

I've run it 5 times Riggys, I only live 10m from the start so a cheap day out for me! LMH and DT19 have run it too. Mostly flat with a few minor undulations, a cheeky little hill at 25.5m to climb before a 400m downhill finish. Wise to be cautious with that achilles, they do take some time to heal.

It did thanks OO61.

Don't forget the cobbles Wardi.

It wasn't my favourite marathon riggys. Wise to be cautious with that achilles.

Great interview Greg, really resonated, a good listen and really informative. Congratulations, forgot about your marathon masters win in Poland, not bad being European champion. Interesting why more V60's sub-3 ing this year then, better longetivity, any theories?

TR - If you give up road marathons you should try ultras, plenty of marathoners on the start lines of ultras that love them and no longer wish to chase times. You've already got the beard!

Thanks wardi and LMH.

It’s looking like the favoured option at the moment.

Hi all, I've been lurking for what seems like ages but decided to dip my toe in and make more of an effort to post regularly. Some of you will remember me from the sub 3:15 forum. OO61- I will have a listen to that podcast, it's a subject that interests me. Just by way of back ground for the forumites who don't know me. I'm based in Jersey and caught the running bug in 2010. Have done a few marathons but nothing to write home about and not done one since 2018. I know most of you from the sub 3 forum too but never posted on there, just lurked for years. My running journey has been so hit and miss the last 3 years or so, that I've never really managed to put a consistent block together. I've tried numerous times but keep breaking down. I'm a V50 runner and decided I needed to address the issues and had my first 1 to 1 with a runner/PT/coach to build s&c into my training. I decided to engage a pro and he's a well known guy with years of experience. I'm too lazy to do it myself. :) The plan is to try get very fit for a shot at an autumn marathon next year and see where it goes. I recently had a horrible groin issue that hospitalised me and needed a few weeks off to recover, I think it was caused by a stupid football incident (twice not once), should know better at my age, the 2 sports don't mix. I've returned to training albeit cautiously. I've enjoyed reading about all your achievements and sorry for those who have had injuries and other health issues. We're all in this together and a bunch of masochists but when it's good, it's very good.

Hi Gerard and welcome.

I've always quite liked the look of the Jersey marathon - have you done it?

I'll have a listen OO61, I like a podcast........running is booming esp with lots of later life new starters since lockdown

Ouch -i smiled at the 7mm group running 6.30s........No ultras for me that'd be even longer long runs

Riggsy - I like the Yorkshire plan. Goodman.

Gerard - good thst you found us

We copped sone serious rain overnight again, my ride in was like an up stream ride. Ended up riding home too, which is kind of indicative of how well my running is going lately.

About This Thread

Maintained by TR
Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
