I found this website and I just wanted to post my story. I have had depression first noticed when I was in the fifth grade, and when 7th grade started the "eatin disorder". I was never overweight but never thin slick where I wanted to be. Running is my passion and I never understood why I did it until May of 2015. A divorce from my beginning year of 12th grade from my parents forced me to move in with my mother away from my home school where that year I placed second at districts in the 300 hurdles which I should have went to college for. I then graduated moved back with my father to my hometown and dated the boy I never got over since 10th grade for 2 and a half years and moved in with him and his parents a little after 3 months of dating (soon I know). The worst thing happened, he cheated and told me the next day and alcohol was involved. I packed my bags and moved in with a friend at her apartment never to speak to him again. The night I saw him at a bar with another tall skinny blonde (I am five foot and weighed 113 pounds) I went home drunk grabbed my car keys to hit what I thought was a guardrail but was only a sign wearing no seatbelt to end my life. I survived, I pay the consequences today with an upcoming dui court date which I thought I would not be alive to show up for. After being released from the "physc" clinic I hit my bottom weight of 103 not eating from being so depressed. Keep in mind I was always athletic up until s couple of months ago my depression started to come back I refused meds I take enough with my heart problem and hypothyroidism. I turned back to running and I realized I must never stop again. Running is what keeps me alive, it is my heart and soul. I run up to ten miles or more five days a week. I run because running is what I control, where, when, how far, how fast, my decision. Since I started running again I have not been depressed but looking forward to my new start to cope with everything that happened knowing it was to make me stronger. I was 21 at the date of my accident I am now only 22 facing a disease inside me everday that is cured by my music and the steps I take when I'm in my running zone. I read some of these stories and I wish you all luck and you all deserve the best, never give up and if you get to that point vear your mind to what you love most that keeps you living and do it. Thanks for all the good advice!
