Ah! So the fog is clearing a little (I told you I was a bear of very little brain) I thought that hitting a marker revealed a previously hidden digit. Doh!

There are 10 digits to collect but the answer uses a maximum of 7 of them.

Thanks for making the map independent for this game, Fetch, that makes life much easier. I have placed it so that I will collect my first two numbers when I run today.

I do wonder whether the badge might have a weird impact on the game. It seems to me that an avid badge collector might well collect numbers, then just sit back and wait until others have done the work and pounce at the last minute, like a bit of a rundle goal hanger.

😂 @ Rundle goal hanger.

I’m going for a run to clear my head of factorials and independent probability. I think I can reach all but one.

We have had 48 guesses now, there are 129 stockpiled digits, and 208 players.

48 guesses and only 2 or 3 posting any clues? I wonder if there are a lot of people guessing with too few digits, otherwise there needs to be more cooperation or the game could stagnate or take a very long time to get to the answer.

Here's a thought... Have a team version of the game with maybe 4 or 5 per team. Each Rundle Collective collects numbers for the team, agrees (by Fmail?) on a number to guess from their stock of numbers. Successful team all gets a badge.

A Rundle League - award points for how close you were to the correct number when it was guessed, such as 50 points correct answer down to 1 point for over 500000 away.

It's not going to stagnate. I reckon (independent of whatever else goes on) I'll have the right number by the end of my fortnight off. Whilst 1,000,000 seems a large task, by cutting in half each time, you should reach the correct number in 20 guesses.

None of them look much good until I get something better than a 6, it seems? And i need more than 3. 🤣

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
Sign up, and you'll see your local map, with ten black markers - each one containing a digit. Collect these on your runs, rides, walks (and swims if you're lucky). It's GPS only, sorry. When you have enough digits, try and guess the secret number, which is anywhere between 1 and 1,000,000. If your guess is wrong, Rundle will tell you whether you are too high or too low.

All Fetchies are chasing the same number. You can choose to share your intel from your guesses - or (moral dilemma) you can try to throw everyone else off the scent.

If you're the person who guesses the right number, you get a snazzy new badge. The secret number will then reset, and the game begins again.
