Oh, and definitely after attending to the morning constitutional, to avoid what happened to that poor chap above!

That's why I like early morning runs - my tummy hasn't started protesting by then

never do a race (or my looonnggg runs rides) without taking it so that doesn't happen

CasB I've noticed before my legs need warming up now I am older and normally walk a bit first. My runs to HR used to be run walk but I am now fitter so there is minimal walking (ups) so my legs miss their warm up

Saturday I had an awful run as calf was so tight and I nearly missed Sunday's run but did over 7m run walk. Started at 30s:30s and finished at 90:30 and no niggles at all. My run commute is always run walk as it's early and I'm asleep!

Completed yesterday's Big Half on 60s/120s R/W - managed to keep it up till just after half way, but then started to flag quite badly. Early part of the race was ok, but later on I was finding the 2 minutes wasn't enough for my lungs to start working again.

Main goal: Finish before the cutoff✅
Stretch 1: Beat last year's' 3:29✅
Stretch 2: Sub-3:15✅
Stretch 3: Sub-3❌

Finished in 3:05:30 - at least it's a post-covid best.

I seriously considered DNS - and might well have done if I wasn't so stubborn about maintaining me "ever present" status...

Pam runs
Today I thought I'd use my stryd for it's purpose and run at Watts instead of it just being a decoration on my shoe.

Uphill ease off and downhill put some effort in.

25min @ 190 watts which is my threshold.

Average pace was 8.52m/m.

Great achievement Andy especially post covid, you can never be really sure how a dose has affected you. 60/120 sounds quite tough.
Super pace again Pam runs although I have no idea how watts are measured!

I get up at 5.30 am to leave the house by 6.15 am. Tea and the other necessities before that. I just cannot run at any other time but know it's what has become a habit. For the first ten years of running I only ran in the evening and found mornings an impossibility. Now retired I can choose whenever and dawn still calls!
20/30 over 4.2 miles flat this morning which was no better overall pace than 5 miles on a hilly routes yesterday. Which is how it always seems to go, ups and downs give my legs more of an interest!

Yup, the great thing about being retired is we can choose when to go for a run.

When I retired eight years ago I thought I'd be more flexible in my approach to what time of day I ran. It didn't happen but mainly because early mornings are more pleasant to me...less or no traffic, few people, quieter except for natural sounds. The down side is it's much colder during deep winter! I don't like the cold much for running in.
Five road miles at my usual 20/30 run walk. No change in overall pace. .........yet!
