Muttley
The highest I ever saw my heart rate was 175 when I did a proper "run up a hill until you puke" max test. That was over 20 years ago and I reckon my max now is low 160s (I got it to 155 this morning when properly out of puff at the top of a climb during this morning's trundle along the coastal path).

Currently working on a twin-track approach. Weekday runs looking to reduce the walk to run ratio so now at 2 mins run and 30 secs walk. And Sunday morning long runs keeping to 30:30 and looking to increase the distance.

Back out after covid and finally a negative test. Did just two miles at 30/30 which was enough!
I've done max HR tests regularly Muttley and seen a slow decline in max...but the test is uncomfortable as you mentioned!

I can currently "allow" a brief spell in the low 150s but my pace is poor even at that rate. That's why I'm waiting on cardiology before I try harder!
30/30 for longer distance seems a good ratio and one I was trying pre covid so good luck with that Muttley.

Thanks Pam.
Hope you get over your covid quicker than I did GlennR. I think she was against me.
5k doing 30/30 this morning showed I've a way to go to get back to where I left off twelve days ago! HR was too high.

Just been looking back
now I know the weather makes a difference but I've been run walk to work once or twice a week since the new year
Today I was 6 mins + quicker than Jan!
Up to mid June I was tri training so not that much running
but still a pleasing improvement

That's good EPixie and that pace is too Pam.
I'm near enough the same I was in January which is frustrating but whatever, I'm still slogging away!
4.5 in perfect conditions this morning, 30/30 and still glad to do the walk bits😂

My run home last night included the last mile being (downhill!) almost all running and sub 14 - boy did I feel it in the heat!

Today I also ran to work - it's my first commute 2 days in a row. If legs cope I will look to try 3 days with the middle day being an easy run commute.
was shocked to see how many miles I have done already - racks up when you aren't tri training too!!

Pam I have once do a single mile at that pace some 4 yrs ago! well done

Wowza EvilP. You must be over the moon with how you're doing.

Wish I could say the same! 5k this morning and tried 60/30 for half a mile but my lungs/heart would have none of it so resorted back to 30/30.

Great conditions out there at 6am.
