anyone know of a calculator that works out pace for the run walk to get to a specific race time?
I'm doing metric marathon in Oct which has a 4hr cut off which is something like 14:44 pace but I was wondering what run pace I need to do if I want to do a run walk thing!
hope that makes sense!

Ooh that’s interesting EP.

I did a warm holiday run today, ran ( downhill) for 5 mins then did 60:30 at a very steady pace. Just under 3 miles. Walked back up the hill!

morning
I feel like my pace is improving (with HR still averaging below the 155 Gobi had me work to!) which I think is in part me making myself run faster as my runs are short! As a result the faster bits are starting to feel easier which is fab
Need to get some longer runs in hopefully 8 this weekend as Chester (metric) is looming!

I liked that calculator EvilPixie, thanks for posting. Your HR average is 25bpm higher than mine when I run/walk. I dare not get into the 150s unless accidentally until I've been checked over ....at some distant point?!... by a cardiologist. My very fit brother, eighteen months younger than I am had several stents inserted as an emergency just four months ago which is why I'm pursuing this route.

Another holiday run today with the lovely Welsh Poppy. So nice to meet another Fetchie, and she very kindly put up with me doing run/walk. We did 3.9 miles (yes, I should have rounded up to 4 😬). Then I walked 1.3 miles back to the cottage ..last half mile up a big hill.

I didn't used to worry about a high HR until five years ago when I reached the age my Dad died at (68, atherosclerosis). My HR hasn't been "playing game" since then but maybe as a natural consequence of age. This my over emphasis on HR and choosing to run/walk. My brother's recent experience of course has added to my concerns; GP prescribed statins a few weeks ago but I'm still preferring to wait and see cardiologist.
Nice session there lin50 with WPoppy.
Hope to be back out within two days now that covid subsided.
