I used to run continuously, went racing almost every weekend when I lived in Reading, loads of events in the Thames valley area. Half marathons, 10ks, marathons.

But that was back then and right now I feel I need the walk breaks as I manage the decline and encroaching decrepitude :-)

6.44 miles done this morning, at 4:1, except for the final 10 minutes or so when I left out the walk breaks. Definitely the way to go.

Good running, Columba.
This morning I started off with 90:30 as per usual but after 12 minutes changed it to 150:30 for 12 minutes and then 210:30 to the 36 minute mark before dropping down to 150:30 and finishing off with 90:30. 6 miles in 58 minutes.

It sounds a bit complicated but I've been doing it long enough to be able estimate the run intervals so I'm not forever looking at my watch. It's a good session to build a bit of endurance while still benefiting from walk breaks.

I'm starting from scratch again (again) and did a mile of 30:30 R:W this morning.

I'm building up slowly and will stick with 30:30 until I can do 5k at a reasonable pace and then build up by 30 seconds running at a time to get to 90:30, then increase the walking and continue to increase the running until I can do 3:1 comfortably.
That's the plan at least.

Good plan, GM.
XB: that sounds like a pyramid.

Hi everyone, I'm back after a bit of a break. Went out to test the legs and lungs this morning and did 15:45 run walk. It was great - going to try 20:40 next time as I think I will be able to manage that. How's everyone else doing?

I've put it on a back-burner for now as I'm walking a marathon next weekend so needed to get walking miles in. But I'm starting again in October, back to the plan to be able to run 5k!

I’m still rehabbing my stress fracture so I’m run/walking. I’m doing 90/30 for shorter stuff and 80/40 for longer (up to 54 mins now). Really need to get closer to running steadily for up to 5k though so thinking of jumping to 3/1

Run walking at the moment too. I've been doing 4/1 for the last month - thinking of stepping it up to 5/1 in October.
