I am at the stage where I have started this so aim to finish despite moving house on Friday and needing to do 9k that day, I doubt I would have even thought of running on Friday without this challenge. I am keeping to a very easy pace each run.

I think the people in the game this month fall into different categories.

1) people who generally run every day anyway. When I was seriously marathon training I'd do a minimum of 6 or 7 miles a day every day so this challenge would have involved no modifications at all

2) people who generally run most days. I currently fall into that category so I do maybe 40 to 45 miles a week in 5 or 6 runs so it is a slight adjustment to do the 1 or 2 extra days and compensate by splitting an 8 or 9 miler over a couple of days.

3) people who generally run less frequently and fewer miles who have to plan and work hard to achieve a high score or clean sweep.

A big factor in the number of finishers will be the mix of the above groups.

It wasn’t about the badge for me, I had considered this in the past but it doesn’t fit with specific training for me, this was an opportunity while I am just running for fun :-)

As a guess, with numbers still pretty strong at the halfway point I am going to say 38.

A virtual badge has no appeal for me, and normally I don’t even bother using the training log on here to record my mileage, but I too got the fmail about the challenge and as I’ve only had 3 non running days since the middle of March (all weather-related due to the various storms), I thought I might as well give it a whirl. I like to finish what I start so I hope I can stay the distance, but if I have to miss a day for a genuine reason (as opposed to lame excuse), I won’t be heartbroken.

I completed the challenge in April & May and have the screenshots to prove it as there was no badge. The lure of a badge did tempt me again, but lost out this month due to a severe reaction to an insect sting. I am now hoping to restart my fitness class which will mean I won't be able to run one day a week as there just won't be enough hours in the day!

I’ve been running most days since retiring last year with just the odd day off. I did the bare minimum yesterday due to travelling, that probably would have been a day off if there wasn’t a badge involved. The 29th will be tough as another day of travelling but hopefully being so close will get me through it.

Annadav, I travel all day on a Thursday so this Thursday might be my downfall, but I got it done last Thursday so hopefully I’ll find the time/energy to do the same this week when there are 5 miles on the clock. I’m not thinking about the 29th yet - although I’ve been running almost every day for several months, I haven’t run over 6 miles at any one time, and mostly only 4 or 5 miles!

Tikka, it is tough to make the effort after a long day of travelling, fingers crossed
your energy levels are good tomorrow. I have managed 7-8 miles some days but might have to split it into 2 runs on the 29th.

I have a little more of today's run to finish off my sum... Just over a mile to go.

This is odd... 7km run done, uploaded... It's squished my bug, and got me some squares, but isn't showing in my training log and hadn't shown on run the sum page... Help! 😞

About This Thread

Maintained by fetcheveryone
1) Add the digits of the date together e.g 18th = 1+8 = 9km, 20th = 2+0 = 2km.

2) Run that distance on the relevant date to colour it in.

3) Complete the whole month to get a badge.
