Look, I've not had n opportunity to be cocky for the best part of probably 2 decades, so I'm making hay.

The prem is super tight, Falcons look bad because 'weaker' clubs have perished had none succombed I think they wouldn't be so far drift

Can't blame you for that rich. Maybe Finn is worth the £1million salary, things have certainly changed this season.

I agree that Falcons aren't as weak as their record shows. With Worcester and Wasps going under it has made it an ultra competitive season.

It can'r be all Russell & I think it would be dissing the rest of the team to suggest it is.

I think getting an actual coach with pedigree and the owner stepping back has more to do with it

Controversial take - Falcons should join URC and merge with the old Borders region. No one in England wants to travel that far for an away game and it would strengthen Scottish rugby having another team.

The 4 Welsh teams should merge into two regions, west and east, and join the Premiership. Doncaster should be promoted from the champ and form a Yorkshire based club meaning a 12 team prem. Anglo-Welsh derbies would revive attendances. Being in the same league would stop the player drain for Welsh rugby

Lots of people who live North of Derby, which is still England AFAIK are happy to make a trip to Newcastle to see their team play an away game, you may be Sarries fan living in York for instance.

Instead of trying to make it a more regional game & 9 team league with this idea expanding involvement in the premiership away from the M4 M5 areas would make the game more diverse than it is now.

Maybe, but think Anglo-Welsh league would work I think. Won’t happen; governance structure is too inconsistent. Newcastle havent won a game for a long time, are they really performing?

Cheeky’s Dad
I don’t disagree with Anglo-Welsh fixtures in principle but I’m not sure that solves the issues for Welsh rugby at least. Not sure I know enough about English to offer an educated opinion but this side of the border we have far too many community clubs far too close together, which hoover up resources and fight amongst themselves. Plus 4 regions within 60 miles of each other whereas I have a 250 mile round trip to get to my nearest region’s home games and I’m not even in the far north. A region in Cardiff & one in Llanelli solves nothing anymore than amalgamating Northampton & Leicester would (for example)

That's a good synopsis Cheeky's Dad, thanks.

It's all stacked in the south isn't it, on the formal industrial base. In the north how many grass roots clubs are there and would somewhere like Colwyn bay make a viable base for a region or do people prefer to head down the A55 to watch football in Manchester or Liverpool?
