don't get phased by people who ask "why do you run?" ask them why they don't.

My usual comment is 'why not' it's normally met with silence. The best comments were from my days as a youth worker. One once said 'but running makes you sweat' my reply 'that's what showers are for' was met with a blank look!

I'm with Old Croc. Ask them why they don't.

I run because I have never felt physically and emotionally, better, fitter or healthier in my life because of it.

*Stands up and says* "My name is mark and I'm a runaholic."

Well I'm an engineer at Microsoft and I run. Ptttf.

Welcome to Fetch, Millie. I'm asuming with a name like that you're a girl :-)

Us women seem to be few and far between in this line of work.

Welcome to Fetch MillieB :)

Glad you have found running - it really is relaxing isn't it?

I was diagnosed with cancer this year, had surgery and radiotherapy and am just starting to get back to running again. Lost my mojo a bit but I think its returning now :) Saying that, I turned the alarm off this morning and went back to sleep instead of getting out and running before I started work lol!

Keep us posted how you are getting on :)

Welcome to Fetch MillieB.

I think it makes total sense. I ran all the way through my treatment, I think that it helps you keep a grip on reality outside of hospital walls, gives you a purpose and reason to get out of bed on the not so good days, is great for your sanity, and physically, and also keeps you in touch socially. Fresh air and a good run can make everything seem so much better :) Running is great. Enjoy it :)

Keep us updated on how you are getting on.

I am indeed a girl :)

Cancer treatment is a royal pain in the neck! I'm hoping I'll be able to keep running (however short the distance) once chemotherapy kicks off but I'll have to wait and see. Sad to see some of you have already had dealings with Cancer but I'm liking the positive attitude :) My doctors now decided I'm completely mental but agrees that anything I can do to keep myself healthy pre-chemo will have benefits during it...so not all mental afterall!
