I used FGS too, and believed they were doing me good, so as a placebo they worked just fine. I never thought of myself as special, though...
I've run out of FGS now though and to be honest a cheese roll, cupcake and big mug of tea works just fine.

I only have a chocolate FGS after my final long run and after a marathon itself. Tried other flavours but they didn't quite taste as good.

As I do most of my runs early in the morning, my post-run drink tends to be a cup of tea/coffee with my breakfast.

I used to drink FGS but don't bother now. It doesn't seem to have made any difference.

minardi.
Asda Chocolate Milk works for me - price-wise and postrun treat :-) And the Yahoo banana flavour when on special offer. don't know if they add anything to the running but it's something to look forward to at the end of a long run

Glass of milk for me. If Im hungry, maybe a tin of tuna/boiled egg as something to eat immediately before showering to get some more protein. Then I'll tend to drink water/squash and eat some more grub with a better protein/carb balance.

after long runs i wizz up a pint of milk, a banana, some chocolate nesquick (or tesco equivalent) and a pinch of salt - that usually does the trick - and tastes yummy :-)

Surely that (banned) ad will just end up making non-FGS drinkers think that FGS drinkers are wankers?
