I guess its going to be a nasty shock when Trump slaps import tariffs on Chinese goods and inflation climbs then.

Obviously I can't speak for America, but the same month I had a modest payrise, my broadband went up from £49-£71 and the price cap rose on energy. Giving me less money left at the end of the month than the month before. And something like a third of my payrise was taken by the government before I even saw it. So even the amount I paid in tax went up. So if someone came along offering to reduce government spending on stuff I don't care about - which might just give me a few extra quid in my pocket, then its already a tempting argument. Wrap that up in a flag and point out that the money's going to things/people that aren't even from my country - when I'm having to cut back on my needs merely to get by - and you can see why they find the orange one's rhetoric so moreish. |

How Trump pulled off an incredible comeback bbc.co.uk Includes some of the points we've discussed on the last few pages. Also talks about how this administration could be different as it won't have the "veteran political advisers and staff who showed him the ropes and constrained his actions". Also "he doesn’t seem that interested in playing by the rules of the game". |

Unfortunately I think the answer will largely be to blame the whole system and not vote again, at least until the next unicorn salesperson swings by and says they'll fix it.

We need an Obama, Kennedy etc to rise for the Dems to calmly unpick and counter Trump over the next 4 years. Or even someone to rise from the GOP as a centrist candidate that will look to cleanse US politics. Where is that future leader today? |

No, they just need to find a fraudulent demagogue, preferably a rapist, to shout abuse at people.
