Yes I’m not blaming you for that SPR. But if a substantial proportion of people vote on the basis of ignorance then what is the point of it? Just, let’s try to put on a better show than the other person and hope to fool more people more of the time? In the country of the blind, the one-eyed man is vilified, denigrated and hounded out. |

Democracy is clearly a terrible system. Not sure I find any of the alternatives more appealing however

@TROSaracen looks like your prediction is going to be pretty close to the real outturn.

What's it looking like for Congress? If the Republicans get all three, they can do whatever they want.

PR used to be about presenting your case in the best way possible. It turned to spin doctors and now if not out right lying, not bothering to try and get difficult messages across. Unfortunately I don't really see how it changes now. I wonder what would have happened in the UK election if Labour had said we have no choice but to put up taxes because of ~insert reasons~? I struggle to see them losing but they'd have lost votes for sure. |

There's also aspects like inflation. I mean prices are continually going up, it's not like they are going down for most things (excluding petrol/diesel), so bringing inflation down doesn't actually reduce costs, just means they aren't increasing quite so fast. I think the dems missed that. You can't just tell people they're better off and hope they believe it, the Tories tried to do it here after the Liz Truss budget (well mortgage/interest rates HAD to go up they said).

In the exit polls, 22% of people said inflation had caused them and their family severe hardship in the last year (73% voted Trump), 53% said it had caused them moderate hardship (50% voted Trump)
