Feels a bit like rubbernecking a car crash.

But car crashes are finite, you get past them and they get tidied up. This public display seems endless. Perhaps it’s good to have a reminder of what the Tories are.

Mostly self absorbed idiots. One or two exceptions but most of them got booted out for not being Brexity enough.

Liz Truss suddenly left the stage at an event to promote her own book after campaigners unfurled a banner emblazoned with the phrase: “I crashed the economy.”
The former prime minister, who lasted 45 days in office, was in Suffolk discussing the US presidential election on Tuesday when the campaign group Led By Donkeys, lowered its remote-controlled banner with a huge picture of a lettuce, behind her.

On a bit of a roll old Liz. She apparently left while saying “That’s not funny”. Another thing that we disagree on then Liz.

No she's right, it's not funny that she crashed the economy.

Algorithms being a bit weird and subjective I'm wondering if my experience is shared by any of you good people.

Since the GE and Starmer becoming PM I'm seeing a lot more mocking and attacking memes on social media than I did prior, including during the election campaign. I'm also feeling like I'm seeing more stuff against Starmer than I used to see against Sunak.

Is it just my perception, my peronalised algorithm, or a more concerted effort to make Starmer look bad, incompetent and temporary until the Tories can come back?

I'm reluctant to shout "conspiracy!" but the immigration issue isn't different since he took over but didn't prompt riots under Sunak.

Though that said I have noticed on YouTube lots of right wing press having a pop at various outcomes of the riots. My “news” bar whatever it is called is nearly all right wing outlets, not a single left leaning one.

The riots had a trigger that was more than immigration. They might have happened in exactly the same circumstances if Sunak was PM although no one can be sure. The difference is they may have been more likely to pander to it in the immediate aftermath.

Yeah i was thinking it might have all had something to do with the (perceived) loss of power and influence from those on the rightward fringe. For all that Farage is actually an MP, he's an irrelevant backbencher and the govt certainly isn't flirting with him in the same way that the last one did.
