Or just puts Ivanka in as the continuity President. Or makes her VP just before he kicks the bucket. Remember. If it’s an official act carried out by the president then it’s legal. Mind you. Rather her than the village idiot sons that he has. |

Reeves set to axe projects to plug budget 'black hole': bbc.co.uk Politics to roar back at Westminster in blame game over funding: bbc.co.uk From the second article: "Nonetheless, the argument we will hear from Rachel Reeves, in a Commons statement, a 30-odd page accompanying document and in a news conference at the Treasury, will be something like this: “We blame the other lot.” They reckon by the time they are done, on Monday evening, the IFS and others will be acknowledging the numbers are different from what was previously publicly known”. Will be interested to see whether this actually happens. Well I presume they will be different but will the IFS and others say they were materially different in a way that would affect decision making? |

Yakima Canutt wrote: The SCOTUS decision on immunity has no impact on the decision of the hush money trial. It may have a bearing on his sentencing. The 6th January trial has been knocked back and some elements of the special counsel case will no longer be relevant but there is a large amount still in play (such as all his interactions with state governors and Pence, SCOTUS decision is to put the case back to the lower court - its still on the table. It does not throw it out. I don't think it's the same as what you wrote JDA. Reminder also that all the cases brought relating to 2020 election fraud were thrown out, even those brought to SCOTUS. What this gives Trump is some time. Time to contest the election. Annoying, but I'd rather he runs and looses than is prevented from running by SCOTUS and further the conspiracy/victim play. Strictly speaking it's already had an impact as he was due to be sentenced on 11th July and the judge pushed it back to September in light of the SC ruling. All those dodgy cheques he signed were signed when he was president as far as I can recall. |

Couldnt see him getting jail time before and he certainly ain't likely to get it when voting starts in some parts in September. Shouldn't matter but I think it will. Wouldn't surprise me if it all got pushed back beyond the election.

Agree JB the slippage of sentencing is to his benefit, but signing cheques to porn stars was not one of his official acts it was personal conduct. The DA prosecutor filed a motion to that effect last week.

I hope we are all looking forward to years of Labour austerity. Which will be fun and friendly because it’s Labour, not like the nasty cold Tory austerity.

Looks like the BMA and govt have agreed a pay deal for junior doctors. Not bad for the first month of govt to solve one of the last government's issues that has rumbled on for years. If course, if they'd sat down and negotiated, they'd have solved it too. But then the Tories are wedded to public sector austerity. |

Seems sensible to come to an agreement. Clearly there is some concern about what tough choices they've made to be able to fund it. @richmac agree with your summary as Labour's position seems to be that the Tories have hidden stuff. |
