Think you’ll find you don’t become a billionaire unless it is all about money

If he's at all astute as a businessman, he'll simply have concluded that the Tories are completely f'ing useless and will want people running the country who aren't. Ideology doesn't really come into it. Don't forget, the ineptitude of the Tory government has meant that in most cases, it's been very harmful to businesses of all sizes. The only actual beneficiaries have been those awarded juicy PPE contracts, etc., and maybe some hedge funds. 'Fuck business', Johnson said, and they've done so.

Given he's always voted Tory and is a former donor, it won't be that.

He’s obviously doing what he thinks will have a better outcome for himself, but that doesn’t mean a worse outcome for the rest of us.

A Tory win would be detrimental to all bar their cronies who are in line for “VIP lane” contracts.

Billionaires aren't the only ones who vote solely on the basis of self interest. Plenty of "ordinary" voters, certainly in the past, have weighed up individual impact of tax cuts etc for their own pockets and drawn a conclusion about which way that directs their vote.

Anyone else got conspiracy theory feeling of 2.0% inflation EXACTLY equal to BoE target, 2 weeks before GE that the date that the INCUMBENT party called? Hmm. I'll get my tinfoil hat. :-) G

Could be Happy - don't worry though a Tory mess will pop in less than 24 hours to obscure that glint of light !

Headline inflation number is meaningless given that no-one feels that (might have made some difference *if* no previous CoL crisis) - need effects to shift votes for people who might be voting on CoL issues - particularly on mortgage rates and those effects can take ~months to feed through.

BoE unlikely to cut rates tomorrow anyway is what I am reading.

Surely inflation is an entirely measurable figure that's continually tracked and that can't be argued against.

I get a pay rise on 1 July. Only 2.6% though. That’s the first rise in near two years.

It doesn’t feel to me like my wages have kept pace with inflation. Granted that previous rise was decent but still lower than inflation at the time and before it hit peak levels.
