I very much like the idea that pensioners should have to do a bit of national service before getting their triple locked pensions. I’m sure it would be wildly popular with them too.

I see the conservatives have found the magic money tree, since Jeremy hunt said this was unaffordable just a couple of weeks ago

Really? What's the increase in tax for UK oil and gas activities then? 100k UK jobs at risk (mainly in the North East) from that.

Also taxing non-doms more is a tax increase.

He needs to chose his words more carefully. They have said they will review tax exemptions and reliefs which gives any chancellor wriggle room to create a lot of damage. Personal allowance, pensions and tax thresholds the most obvious.

Tories are solidly chasing the pensioner vote and having to give exemption on pensions being taxed rather than being back rising thresholds they help everyone.

Also Tory candidates seem to be trying to scam votes

So the Abbott investigation was concluded in December 2023 and she did the required training in February 2024.

My MP hasn’t really mentioned Sunak for ages, but very strangely was absent (thrown under a bus?) from Houchen’s latest self congratulation on our upgraded railway station (replaced by the local Labour council leader).
