Dave W wrote: Okay. Thanks. But in my defence I am also a bit offensive and dated. But you’re never too old to learn. POC or BAME if talking more generally from a statistical detached POV is what I would say. I would also consider what the people I’m talking about would self describe as too. In the 80s black was an umbrella term for anyone non white eg used by Southall black sisters which included a lot of women of south Asian origin, but the term has evolved and changed as identity become more granular. What I would say is you don’t know what you know (unconsciously incompetent). And that isn’t anyone’s fault. We all have to learn at one point or another. You know now and are open to learning so that’s the important thing. We all have lots to learn - all of us - and I am sure there was no malicious intent |

Do Opinium ask what certainty you are of voting, I know YouGov do and I guess weight the various votes including "don't knows" appropriately thereof.

I'd have to dig in, will do that tomorrow. I see the Tories have confirmed strategy, as it also plays well with the Con 2019 voters too. It's squeeze the Reform vote, which in turn shows the Tories closing the gap on Labour, creates impression of momentum and then the media will be all "look at the polls narrowing". Cynical, but probably the only game left in town. |

Sunak just confirming he is a facile creep IMHO. He has literally no clue about National Service. Might as well bring back the birch. This is Pontins 1964 stuff. Desperate. |

Tories absolutely gonna get wiped out if they go for more batshit crazy nonsense. I'm not even sure that it'll appeal to Rebrexkip voters. It just makes them look totally incompetent and flailing around like morons. He's basically running a more hard right + batshit crazy version of the Corbyn 2019 labour campaign - lots of policies that may poll well with their target voters, but put them together and they look ridiculous and incoherent. And specifically national service coming from someone with such a privileged background like most Conservatives, but especially and particularly Sunak makes him look completely out of touch. I'm starting to feel I've pitched too high at 100 seats. The Lib Dems are going to be the official opposition at this rate. |

I'm starting to think that Armando Iannucci is actually doing some form of live version of the thick of it and Sunak is simply an actor. He can't really this bad.... |

YouGov's poll on national service (from Sep 2023) ygo-assets-websites-editorial-emea.yougov.net Doesn't look favourable among any demographics really. Just some demographics have less opposition than others. |

Btw the last people in the UK to have done national service would currently be 82.

There's no reason why National Service would be popular with anyone.
