But elections show he IS getting his base out. Has been for a while, and polls aren't capturing it. Didn't in midterms either. And yes I'm sure fozzy will point out that they are partly capturing it, but the actual polls aren't showing that the base is energised on abortion rights etc.

Biden leading the Dems is a disgrace. Belongs in a care home, not the White House.
But the alternative is still far far worse.

I suppose when the full campaign is activated it may turn out as you suggest, but to me I am still staggered that Trump is within even a thousand miles of the nomination, let alone running neck and neck with Biden nationally.
I think it speaks to Biden’s weakness that he isn’t absolutely marmelising Trump, and I think it’s easy to underestimate how slippery Trump will get on abortion rights when, erm, he still brags about creating the Supreme Court which trashed them. He will deny it’s anything to do with him.
I’m hoping the US will come to its senses when the full campaign starts, but I’m afraid Biden is a weak candidate and it isn’t helping.

Can't disagree. That the US presidential race looks set to be between two over 75 year olds, is just a complete indictment of the system. It's like the end of the Soviet Union, where all they could do was appoint increasingly older and more decrepid leaders.

Trump's bound to have a running mate who is fully on board with the big lie and overturning democratic results if he/she can. I'm gonna take a punt on Jim Jordan.

I'm opting for Kari Lake (by opting for, it no way endorses the absolute crackpot).

Minor in terms of what else is going on in the world, but my Dutch girlfriend just messaged me this, as she is back in NL seeing friends and family. I expect she’s quietly pleased I’m not with her as she didn’t have to wait for me and my blue passport.
“Landed and on the train. Took me 30 seconds to get through customs as I didn’t have to queue in the ‘all passports’ queue, so I got an earlier train than expected”.

Rishi Sunak has been accused of “silly puffed-up posturing” by senior Tories after being forced to concede at the 11th hour that a pro-Palestine march planned for Armistice Day will go ahead.
Sums up this government pretty well really.

There are so many cracks appearing among the Tories too. So much in-fighting.

So. Rowley did tell Sunak to fuck off. And off he fucked.
Should never have got involved in the first place. Idiot.
