Rowley has been called into an emergency meeting with the PM. Everything the tories touch turns to shit, but they want to meddle with operational policing decisions now. Thin end of the wedge. Hope Rowley tells them to fuck right off. Rowley desperately needs to maintain independence for the sake of his career, the future of the met, and for the future relationship between the British people and the police, you’d think he’d be motivated by the first two of these at least. |

IMF warning EU to keep wages low in the east of Europe in order to maintain competitiveness with indentured / child labourers in the parts of the world that are literally fenced out of the EY archive.ph Worth a read for those who laughably maintain the EU is pro worker. |

. Rowley desperately needs to maintain independence for the sake of his career, the future of the met, I'd suggest maintaining the independence is more likely to limit his career |

So the IMF warns the EU for allowing higher wages, and you blame the EU? Not sure I follow the logic? Did the EU heed the warnings? The EU isn't entirely some workers rights cooperative, but it has substantially raised the bar for workers rights over its lifetime throughout the EU - something we now risk sorely missing out on. It's not perfect, but I'm not sure you can blame it for failing to follow the IMF's requests? |

Sunak putting the arm on Rowley isn’t a good look. Good judgement doesn’t come easily to him does it?

Interesting results in the US last night - ducking the polls, the Democrats: -Dem Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear will win a second term in a deeply-red state against GOP AG Daniel Cameron. -In Virginia, Democrats will sweep both chambers of the state legislature, flipping one. -Ohio voters approve ballot measure adding right to abortion. Basically young voters are coming out and upsetting the apple cart, in some other deeply red states, Democrats making big in roads. Although Repubs did well in Mississippi. I'm not so sure those current polls showing Trump 4 points ahead are as watertight as they seem. Polls vs Winning Elections? Which would you prefer? |

It was one of the reasons why I have thought I’m a bit uneasy about the whole thing. If it goes pear-shaped on Saturday Rowley is toast. Somehow I am sensing that the Conservative press will confect a row whatever happens, and he’s on thin ice now. It’s all a real mess, and I think there’s zero chance it will shift the dial electorally anyway, which I assume is why Sunak is getting shirty about it. |

They'll be thawing Cressida out for a glorious return to humble servitude.
