Yaxley-Lennon - allowed back on X / Twitter thanks to Larkim’s hero, Musk, has issued a clarion call for patriots to defend the cenotaph. Yaxley-Lennon is the person who has anti-British values, whatever they are, not the families who are protesting the slaughter of civilians, doctors, journalists, UN workers etc in Gaza. |

I have a feeling this will all go horribly awry. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm currently transfixed be the culture battle du jour the government has created. Pressuring the Met to ban protests calling for a ceasefire in Palestine this weekend. And I have to give credit to Rowley for resisting and indeed saying no. I'm convinced his predecessor would have signed off on the home secs request in a blink. It may be a storm in a tea cup, I may be wrong, it may go to the heart of the matter. Braverman, who I think is driving this as part of a far right leadership bid, is perhaps trying to figure out if she can override the Mets decision and how that would look The cynic in me wonders if the Government has made this a call for arms to the right wing groups in this country who will now head to London and go and defend the Cenotaph, cause trouble and so the government can instead blame it on the peaceful marchers. |

Funny that Yaxley-Lennon and Hopkins were unbanned from X shortly after Sunak met Musk

“Gideon Falter, chief executive of Campaign Against Antisemitism, said: “If the Met is unable or unwilling to protect our freedoms and values this Remembrance Day weekend” That’s exactly what Mark Rowley IS doing. He IS protecting YOUR freedoms by stopping the right wing of this government from banning marches they don’t like for political purposes. If you wanted to march, Gideon, and some idiot of a politician didn’t want you to you’d be up in arms. Policing. Damned if you do. Damned if you don’t. Caught between a rock and a hard place. Always has been. Always will be. |

Braverman is dog-whistling for the very same fascists that people’s granddads died to stop conquering Europe. This fetishisation of remembrance is an empty fake vessel of an occasion tbh, given there are so many armed forces veterans who are homeless, who the ruling class don’t care about and never have. That’s why you buy a poppy, rather than the government provide support to them directly Also look at substandard accommodation for military personnel and their families while there are loads of empty yuppie flats. If you really want to honour the war dead, act for peace in the Middle East and everywhere else. |
