Facebook for me is good for keeping up with family and friends antics (those that post updates) and also for clubs, via Groups. Two or three clubs actively update sessions within a week and feedback on events and so on. Really good to see. Genuinely useful "bulletin board", effectively. That is nothing to do with politics though! As I say, can imagine twitter was good for academics and politicians, as a sort of real time publishing and engagement platform. G |

But I’m done with private discussion spaces controlled by sociopathic billionaires. I’m not giving Zuck a penny. |

Reddit also has certain parts that are just as informative/high quality as the best parts of twitter, but their recent closing down of third party apps has pushed me away for the time being, RIP Apollo. And to be honest, I really spent 90% of my time there on the funny/weird sub reddits for amusement or to show my kids cool videos. Largely unproductive use of time, but still kinda interesting. Fetch forum does have similarities, but I think people behave better towards each other as the community is more connected, less anonymous. Depends which threads you look at of course. |

Another aspect of twitter that may now drop away was that lots of companies had started using it as a major platform for customer services. I've contacted Nike to arrange a return there, asked energy supplier to change my tariff, the response rate was pretty quick and you seemed to get someone who knew what they were doing, felt more effective than calling that company and stumbling through menu options then holding queue. Seen similar thing on FB as well, so I think deleting all your accounts is going too far for me. But I have removed the apps from my phone, because I know how easy it is to scroll through an endless feed and essentially waste my time. |

I didn’t have a Facebook account for a few years but I now use it to for marketplace and to follow a few bands, and check for local trades. Have it in a false name |

Good point about customer service. It was the only way I got my money back off Greene King when calls and emails had failed.

Calling someone a 'Karen' is misogynistic and offensive, I would prefer it if you don't use it here.
