Yes, I can see that link, thanks fd. Twitter demise would be no loss to me. I guess people like/want a publication platform that is similar and widespread? Scary rollback by UK gov on the climate pledge. There is strong inertia, lots of people set up mastodon accounts and have drifted back to twitter. I've logged out of twitter now to put me off lazily going back. Mastodon has had an uptick in usage in the last week, but it still takes effort to find similar accounts to those you followed on twitter. I used this today to find a few more mastodon accounts to follow, though it still took me a bit of effort: followgraph.vercel.app |

I can't find my way around Mastodon. It's just not intuitive for me.

Love the way that Mhairi Black absolutely destroyed Oliver Dowden today at #pmqs. Shame that everyone who should be an MP can't bare the stench of Parliament. |

Is this the actual end for Twitter? I've tried to get into a couple of feeds, but it's just telling me to retry. That's by looking at old tweets; just going for a current home page, it's demanding a login.

Musky got annoyed that people and companies would post links to individual tweets and embed them in websites and also some companies and organisations would use them for research/data etc. So he's blocked everything. Because he sees the price of everything and the value of nothing. What made twitter accessible and useful was that people could read stuff. As soon as you put it behind a wall, it loses usefulness. And so market value for sponsors and advertisers decreases. He is proper dumb. |

You're right Musk really doesn't get value v worth. He should join the Tories. bbc.co.uk Not going to be at Longbridge is it. |

I won't be joining any of them and I would recommend other people don't either. You neither need it nor will benefit mentally from it. Do yourselves a favour and delete your accounts.

The rumour on the 6000 tweet limit was that Musk insisted on pushing a not properly tested release and there was a bug that meant if you looked at one post, it was hitting the API continuously at a rate of 20 times over the usual rate (and Twitter therefore couldn't cope), so he had to roll out the temporary rate limit rather than admit he'd botched it.
