I’ve never rated Sunak as a politician and his approval ratings have strongly tanked for the last two years so I think he’s on a very sticky wicket turning this round now he’s likely to be PM through a very difficult winter.
Very few politicians would survive what is coming in the next six months. Certainly makes the party look less like a bunch of clowns for a while but the ERG lot will still use their voting bloc to make Sunak’s job harder, bit like they did to May.
His super rich status and wife’s tax avoidance are still there to be dragged up too. He is probably in for a bumpy ride. I think calling and losing an election very soon is a much smarter move than hanging on to power and refusing what the majority of the public want (according to research anyway)
