Any summaries of how this is all being reported abroad? (I saw the ‘Better call Boris’ tweet earlier!). Latest take on Twitter I've seen: "How the f**k did they rule half the world?" |

If the public accept Johnson back, then he has a chance of winning the next election. There should be protests if he returns, I can't believe it can just be accepted with a shrug. All this stuff is setting precedents IMO. Good explanation as to why this really isn't the case: twitter.com Given what has happened since, I think he'd be polling quite a bit lower than Corbyn was in 2019 but the problem is whether they can be forced to call a GE. Keep calm and carry on watching the Conservative party disappear into oblivion. |

Oceans rise, Empires fall.. and BoJo will inevitably still try to be king of the world. If people are (still) foolish enough to let him playout his childhood ego trip, then I guess we get the leader we deserve and become an even bigger laughing stock of a country.

Reading that the ERG are split on who to back, knowing that Braverman won't get the 100 nominations and there are some anti Bojo member. Factions within factions. There really isn't a unity candidate and this is going to be another mess. |

Ben Wallace has ruled himself out and backed Boris Johnson. Johnson and Sunak are now exactly the same betting price of 2.20. |

I can accept Boris wasn't popular and yes 2019 was a single issue election but all it takes is for another single issue to come up. Let's not forget Boris wasn't a committed leaver till he thought it suited him.

BoJo actually argued reasonably eloquently on the benefits of Eurpoean membership (within about 2 pages) of his book on Churchill. The book itself is like the man himself, full of broad brush statements and lacking in insight. It stands in stark contrast to Roy Jenkins' work on the same subject, which is meticulously researched and heavy on detail!

Maybe "Take Putin out" will be the next "Get Brexit done" Quite ambitious and likely to cause a global scale war but might just keep the Tories in power for a bit longer, so worth the gamble, for Johnson anyway. |

Are we getting the impression that the Truss 'premiership', in certain circles, has been seen as little more than a fridge? In my line of work, we have known parents Electively Home Educate their children with immediate effect beginning a couple of weeks before a school holiday; they then immediately re-apply to get their children back in the school as soon as they've got back from their term-time holiday. It's easier to do that than to pay the fines, see. Was Boris maybe on Honeymoon for September? |

My husband has just said he thinks it would be a good idea to bring Boris back. Also several acquaintances on Facebook. JFC, how short are people's memories? How are we even talking about bringing back a failed PM like it's quite good actually, as if the reasons for him leaving office were really not so bad and he's a jolly sort of chap, and besides, Volodymyr likes him. This is what the Trussterfuck has led to: an endless parade of utterly shit human beings looking quite alright compared to the current one? |
