Stander, didn't you argue that governments (and political parties) should give the people what they want? Clearly a majority of Scottish people want independence. |

And by the principle of Loser's Consent, the 48% should now agree too.

No, no, no! The will of the people only applies when the result is the one you want!

Anyway, I now don't see what's wrong with removing a layer of government with unelected officials THAT WE PAY FOR and which spends money we give it that we have no say in. Anyway, Scotland costs £800m a week. Let's fund our NHS instead. |

Don't forget also, that you can only have one referendum on an issue, except where you lost the first one, then you can whine on for ages about how the original terms of the referendum weren't what you believed them to be and that the second referendum is permissible because you're now voting against a slightly different combination of letters.

Fozzy - since when has a poll every been acted upon? They had a once in a generation vote. They said no. All the other comments following the TOTP are just bitter ridiculousness that I'm not even going to bother to dignify with any responses. In fact, this thread has descended into nothing more bash the tories, moan about brexit, doom, gloom, O woe is me, the world is coming to an end and other such cidiculous bollocks. I'm taking a break from all this negative shit. |

I'm sure you've said something similar before Stander. TBH, I'm here mostly for the slightly bitter and definitely ironic humour that's rattling around. I don't expect this forum to change the system, and I know it doesn't offer a wide enough viewpoint to challenge mine much. But it is interesting, and surprisingly educational at times. I think "we" would be as happy to bash a Labour or LiDem or SNP government, if they were enacting a set of policies the majority "we" mostly disagreed with. |
