Anyone see Donald Tusk's "enthusiasm for Scottish Independence" from EU? Interesting wording. Still needs to go through full, formal application process, but definitely supportive language. G

And that "Happy Brexit Day" horrible flyer posted in a tower block (in Norwich). Was that true or was it a fake. It sounded almost too crazy to be possible. "Speak English or leave our country"? Wtf? Idiots.

I saw Tusk's comments, but does his support from his current role give any practical benefit? I think he stepped down from president of the Council where his support would have had a practical benefit as he would have been able to manage and influence potential problems from Spain threatening veto.
I understood also that the SNP were going to be putting forward details of how they would meet the requirements to join the EU. If that is good and credible, it will be worth a lot more than warm words.

Agree simbil, it's the process and the facts and meeting the requirements that matter. The words were just a nice bonus. And a departure from previous official rhetoric. But agree too that he has less influence and less need to be cautious in his views now. So probably doesn't mean anything. Just liked the sound of EU member states being supportive and empathetic with the Scottish cause. G

Agree the dynamic has changed from previously as the EU did not want to be seen as supporting the break up of the U.K. Now they would not be opposed to part of the U.K. rejoining though I expect the official language will remain fairly neutral.

Happy, I was very surprised by Norwich- especially that block. (There are parts of the city, and certainly Norfolk- Yarmouth springs to mind, where I wouldn't have been surprised).
But seems to be true.
Hope not Hate did a vigil yesterday and lot of the residents attended. Very odd and sad either way.

Well yeah, the EU were opposed to any break up of any union, but a lot of English/Welsh people decided union wasn't a great so why shouldn't the EU change tack now ?

Happy, I have no reason whatsoever to imagine the flyer was fake. There are loads of people with these sentiments (which Brexit has encouraged) around the country. I think too much has been made of this, though, to be honest. All it means is that one nasty xenophobe with a printer has stuck a few flyers around. It doesn't mean that much. For all we know, he may be the only person with such views in the entire building (although he probably isn't).

HG. It’s good to know we would be welcome back if we ever get to that point. However I suspect it would not be an easy process and even within the snp I don’t believe it’s a given that they want back in the Eu.
