Yes WS, David Milliband was my hope at the time. It seemed that self serving labour factions opted for mediocracy rather than someone who came across as a potential poll winner. It was hard to trust Ed Milliband after that leadership contest and he wasn't impressive at all

So, any views on whether Long-Bailey can be stopped?

I think they're set on a woman, so Starmer's out. I've been most impressed by Lisa Nandy so far, speaks common sense and not a momentum cultist. I think she'd show up well against Johnson's bluster.

But I've no idea how the members are feeling; have they realised the purity of principles need diluting to become electable and thus do some good.

If I were a decent Labour man, I would sit and wait, work in the background, let Long-B get smashed to pieces for 5 years then change it all.

Corbyn would have lost to Howard. He would lose to anyone, he lost to May for crying out loud.

Starmer has at least started his pitch, I was fearful he might step back. He'll get my vote, not that that means much.

Not impressed by Thornberry though. On camera she seems to me to be a tad too aggressive, somewhat desparate and reminds me of Two-Jags too much in her behaviour

I just had a thought, rare I know. At what point do they wheel out May as the 'elder states-person of the Brexit process', after she jacks it all in, after she writes her biog? I hope when that day happens some hopeless journo like Kuenssberg (she is hopeless this election proved it beyond doubt) line up all the mistakes she made, and then tell her to fuck right off.

THornberry surely a gonner, after Flint's accusation and THAT tweet which would resurface in any election campaign, plus she's another London-centric.

Gut feel it'll come down to Nandy vs Long Bailey, but the fanatics will see L-B over the line.

Milliband vs Hague would have been funny/depressing in equal measures. The baseball cap vs the Ed Stone....

Funny, but when you look at the last 3 Tory PMs some of their failed leaders look preferable.

Not IDS, obviously. He will always be a c*nt.
