I have gin
I can't decide if I'm sad or cross. What upsets most is that for the first time i my life I have reached the point of thinking next time I go in the polling booth I will vote solely in my own interest and that of my children.

Absolutely Dooogs. Nicola will be delighted if this pans out. Still a lot of marginals up here though.

One thoroughly depressing thought: this looks like a comprehensive victory for obsessive single-message repetition.
I expect all the parties to be looking for their version of Get Brexit Done in the next election, alas....

As someone who grew up English in Dublin, I've always had a reflex dislike of nationalism.
And yet, if I were a Scot (or a Scottish resident), I'd really be struggling to find convincing reasons for staying in the union...

I'm still amazed McDonnell agreed to do that 10.15 interview. More than BJ did, of course...

TMW, I partly agree. The main issue in the area is brexit. Look at the vote change, it's gone to the brexit party rather than tories. The voters that have changed, still didnt vote tory, they dont believe in what they offer. But they want brexit. What they fail to realise is that nissan (who employ ridiculous amounts of people have already been making people redundant and will leave the are). In a few years, it will revert back to labour.

This Soames interview might be interesting - I was just wondering what the likes of Major and Heseltine must be thinking...

Would anyone respect politicians in general far more of for example when interviewed for example tonight as the exit poll suggests and as the night goes on no doubt results will suggest a very clear result they were honest with at least themselves. The " we fought an excellent campaign and on the doorsteps our labour representatives expect us to do very well and we can/will become the next goverenment" Come on!!!! Nobody of sound mind can honestly say that. Now either everyone they speak to while canvassing is telling them porkies or as I expect they are just not learning and are so removed from the voting public. Until opposition parties learn to listen to what the public want things won't change.
