There was a risk that I'd be stuck in Brussels by belgian train strikes and therfore watching the commentary and results come in at the office bar, but luckily the strike was called off and I'm now on my way home to the Dutch countryside.
As someone closer to the pointy end of whatever policy the next government will be pushing I have to say I'm uneasy. There's no easy way out of this for any of us.

I fear the worst, Tory majority of 60.
I’m not even confident they’ll lose many/any seats in Scotland, their campaigning locally (Stirling consistuency, Tory/SNP marginal) has been ALL about Vote Tory to avoid Indyref2, and if they’ve done that throughout Scotland it could be effective.

Just been to vote in a marginal seat (Tory currently, strong leave vote but a good labour candidate)... the people at the polling station said they had been 'frantic'. I can't decide if that's good or bad.

I heard somewhere that a good turnout is usually good for Labour. But strange times.

I think they’ll get good turnout where they don’t specifically need it, eg constituencies with a lot of students where they have a large majority already.
But I’m the king of pessimism so I’m bound to say that
I’ve not voted yet, but with just 147 votes in it last time, this is the first time I feel like my vote really might make a difference. Shame not everyone can feel like that.

HG I maybe poorly worded previous post(s) I do intend to vote this time round, just feel most likely result of this will be a farm yard animal/rocket type drawing. I voted the first election I was age to do so and then for many elections did not (same reasons as now, feel so removed from these creatures that are supposed to represent us all. From the too and fro of the two parties I have witnessed little discernable difference to my and family /friends /local community in the 25 - 30 years) In recent years I have voted we each time and who I have voted for has varied (3 - 4!? different parties). My parents, brother, sister ,any fily members, friends and people in areas of my childhood and surrounding do not vote.
Why don't they vote? I think largely the frustrations I have of seeing politicians regularly behave like spoilt children on TV. Them showing complete diaregard for their public, being so so far removed from being relatable and often not seeing a fresh/honest/relatable alternative to feel involved, feel able to make real change. Dennis Canaan lived in our street and is one of the few I or many around us could last relate to and saw he was honourable and approachable. About 25 years after leaving our street he still sends my parents a Christmas card every single year.
