My stepdaughter did. Can't remember if she's on the public register or not. I think she might be.

I just did a search for myself now and didn't turn up, as expected. So it's very curious.

Don't all parties have access to the electoral roll for the purpose of sending out their bumf? I've certainly had stuff through the door in Blue, Red, Yellow and Green and I've already torn the Brexit party one up and thrown it out so I've no idea what colour that was.

The full electoral roll is available to political parties, irrespective of whether you've opted out,. I believe.

If it is, does that not make it the same, if a little less sophisticated, as targeted social media ads that everyone made a fuss about in recent elections and votes. The bumf coming through my door can hardly be regarded as any more reliable and truthful as what I might see on social media..... The full version Everyone’s name and address goes on the full version of the electoral register. The full version of the register is only used for: elections preventing and detecting crime checking applications for loans or credit jury summoning in England, Wales and Northern Ireland So any random administrator of a made up political party can get have information that I've requested to be private from that random administrator working minimum wage or volunteering with their hands on an incredibly valuable data set. Hmmm. |

Yes you are right apparently all parties are allowed access to the private register for sending mail but should destroy the data after the election.... Not worth me getting upset about, there's definitely no wrong doing or corrupt type activity in UK politics to imagine. I'm sure the data is never even seen with human eyes, it will be automatically processed in a mail merge from a secure server and never stored outside of the source.

Final YouGov MRP poll is interesting (28 seat majority Tories): yougov.co.uk Boris gets barely more seats than May had before she called the election. (So the last 2 years have been a complete waste of fucking time, and this is entirely the Tories fault. ERG will not go away and will continue to plague Johnson, as they did May). Labour gets a similar amount of Ed Miliband. Closer than I would have expected. Am revising down my estimate - Tory majority 20-40 seats. However I notice it thinks Labour will hold Kensington, and I'm not sure that looks on the cards. Also it has Tories holding St Ives from Lib Dems, and I think the Lib Dems might just get that one. Few other anomalies too. However direction of travel (which most pollsters say is usually accurately predicted even if finally figures aren't), is in Labour's direction. |

My OH was very annoyed that she received an addressed leaflet from the Brexit party but I didn’t. The Tories sent a single leaflet with both our names on it. |

Every candidate in an election has the right to send one free postal communication to every voter, even if you have specifically asked that party not to contact you. Apart from political parties & candidates, certain libraries have the right to a copy of the full electoral roll. Lots of government bodies have the right too, (e.g. the ONS, the Jury Central Summoning Bureau & many more.) |
