And for a constituency poll to make you feel less depressed... crikey.
Portsmouth South, constituency voting intention:
LDEM: 30% (+13) CON: 27% (-14) LAB: 24% (-17) BREX: 14% (+14)

My local LibDems and Labour campaigns appear to be fighting amongst themselves over who stands the best chance of winning if the other lot voted tactically for them instead, based on either latest opinion poll or last time's actual results. Both are different.
Obvious danger is they both get 27% of the vote each, leaving me and many others with a blue-rosette-wearing, nice-but-dim, spineless-yes-man, who will just do what he's told, by central office/whip, every time, to be elected by 28% of the local electorate and claiming it's a majority mandate to carry on as he is.
LindsD, I think the strapline "And Cameron f*cked a Pig" ought to be considered as an email signature line....

I wonder if I'd get away with that.

And that is the grand worry Marky.
Why can't we have coalition, consensus politics, coalescing around key issues, so that Greens and Democrats and Socialists would tend to group together, and Nationalists and Wealthists (or whatever Capitalist, in it for themselvesers would call themselves) gravitate together and we'd be able to vote for all of the parties and all of the issues and we'd have a rainbow coalition representatives working on all the issues the majority flagged up? And breathe! G

Because FPTP, broadly speaking. And you fuckers all voted for it when offered a change. OK, not all of you, but most of the country (I was abroad and didn't get to vote).

I voted for PR (even if it was the stupid AV version, rather than STV or Alternative Member system), so my conscience is clear! G

JDA, I agree, and it wasn't me.... But I still think it would have been better than FPTP though.
The version of PR offered was probably the most difficult for the man on the Clapham Omnibus to get his head around, with the result that the majority said "Nah" based on a lack of understanding.
Another case of asking a stupid (?) question in a referendum without fully explaining the outcome. Based on the last 2 referendums (da?) in this country, I really think the criterion for voting should be understanding rather than just age. (But how can you prove it?)
