Probably not in your desired area - but we stayed here last year: kindercottage.co.uk

and it was lovely - walk up Kinder Scout from the door and the pub was within a relatively easy stagger :)

We stay in this one

Right in the entrance to Peak cavern, very quiet in the evenings, can't get a car closer than the main Castleton car park so have to carry your stuff a short way

Glad you’ve enjoyed Dovedale Fetch. Actually you can continue on from Milldale, still following the River Dove upstream, into Wolfscote Dale. It’s very quiet after Dovedale, and with some beautiful limestone cliffs... Canute and I have done that together as a long run. Highly recommended.

Hoping the good weather stays - driving up Friday for a week.
Do you (esp Fellrunning) know if there is any parking beyond Fairholmes ?
And any public access or good spots to see deer ?

Warning, much of the top end of the Peak district is on fire, although this is north west of fairholmes, perhaps check before travelling.

At the moment the most serious fires are restricted to Saddleworth which is closed.

Peak and Derwent estates (which includes Fairholmes) are open. Please observe restrictions esp around forested areas.

Parking above Fairholmes is restricted to Blue Badge holders. There is a shuttle bus to the King's oak.

The deer are currently in the Alport Valley. It's access land but a bit of a trek.

I'll be blogging about the fire risk situation later.

Be safe
