Thanks for all the advice above, it was really helpful. We had surprisingly good weather too, which was a bonus. In the end we did 3 walks.... (1) Cavedale and Mam Tor loop with river walk from Hope (2) Edale, Pennine Way to Kinder Downfall (roughly Um's "Over to Kinder" in reverse) and back via Grindslow Knoll (3) A shorter walk to Win Hill, Hope Cross and back along the valley. Next time I just need to remember the suncream!

UK holidays? Sunscreen and waterproofs needed 'just in case'. Glad you got a good week Snail. Is the chinese takeaway in Hope still in the pub?

This made me smile today,
"Someone from mountain rescue near us stuck a sign on a gate to the effect that 'this is not the pennine way. Turn around and retrace your steps about 300m and follow the other path' cos they got so many call outs to a particular area of bleaklow from lost people." I do hope it's true.
