Thanks all. It’s not Bromham, it’s up in Notts where I go to be with my boy. The street was empty at 5am, but by 7am there was about 2ft of water in the house. Luckily I heard the drains gurgling outside, and I saw the first water come in to the house. I managed to get everything important upstairs. We got a boat out with the fire brigade at about 11.30.

Not seen an update for a week so I hope the water has cleared enough to start the clean-up.

Hiya Helegant - the water was gone within 24 hours. In the hands of the insurance company now. Sluggish so far, but there's an electrician going in today to restore the power, and tomorrow the drying out process starts.

Glad the insurance company is moving, and well done for getting stuff upstairs. Good luck with the drying and cleaning.

Last year (I think) I took a detour on my drive home from Liverpool (cutting across between m6 and m1 on the a6, I think) and did a quick up and down of Mam Tor.
I may be driving back from Daughter's again on Tuesday morning and feel like a bit of a detour again so looking for ideas for somewhere I can park and walk for a couple of hours with a bit of elevation. I won't be very early, so wondering how busy parking is likely to be everywhere
