Due to extended playing on the swings before the start of parkrun today, and a refusal to go past about 1 mile where some fantastic marshals were singing and dancing to Christmas tunes, I had to then wait until my better half finished before I had to sprint off and attempt to catch the tail within the last 2 miles. Worked out that I only had just about 15 minutes to play with. I managed to get to the far turn around marshal for my first time just before the tail went round for the last. Look of confusion from them as to the pace I was going, but told them I was a lap behind and not to wait for me to get back. Carried on around and got onto my last lap, a few more muggles about by then who had assumed parkrun was over, but skipped through them and caught up with the tail with a couple of hundred meters to go. They had twigged what I was doing since the start so had been cheering me on as I unlapped myself each time. The timers knew what was going on as well as I came into the finish, but tokens was a bit confused and not sure if I was actually completing, or had run the course twice for some reason. Then my barcode wouldn't scan from my Garmin this week after working perfectly last week. All sorted with a pen and paper though. Don't think I'll bother with the Garmin barcode next time. |

LG, your barcode is not in the parkrun app. There are various ways of having it on your phone including screenshotting from the website, downloading pdf, and it's in the unofficial my5krun app. Other ways are available |

LindsD Thanks, I have a 5k app so could use that. My number is easy to remember and I could tell them but they say "no barcode, no time, no exception" |

5k app is handy. I used it for my barcode today.

Indeed Harry - can you imagine how long it would take if every barcode has to be written down? When barcodes were optional fewer than 10% of people bothered to bring one.

What? There was a time without paper barcodes? How could that have been True Parkrun?

I seem to remember some kind of metal token at my first parkrun, and someone sitting at a PC on a trestle table.

Yes, same here. Think that ended sometime after my first or second parkrun at Hyde park, with the barcodes coming in some time in 2009? |
