"Last weekend, counting junior and 5km runners, walkers and volunteers, the figure was more like 173 000" - Dvorak

Where are you getting that number from Dvorak? This past weekend there were 283k runners and 30k volunteers. Elliott reported slightly smaller numbers but that often happens due to late submissions.

Nevermind, I missed your comment that you only counted UK numbers.

We should at least add in the Germans too if it is figures for BMW...

Ref BMW/parkrun article.. I don't think numbers have been exaggerated at all. The article references parkrun starting in the UK but aimed at the planet.... So it's fair to use the entire parkrun numbers..

Nick Pearson, CEO, parkrun said, “We’re delighted to welcome MINI as an official supporter of parkrun. Like MINI, parkrun was born in the UK and for over a decade we have been driven by our mission to create a healthier, happier planet. Every weekend, more than 200,000 people get together at their local events and take steps to positively improve their health and wellbeing.”

As a mere participant I have no particular problem with an EV manufacturer supporting parkrun, even if their main business is petrol it won't be for long. Maybe they will install charge points at parkrun car parks :-)

I know it’s business but we don’t have to listen to the corporate advertising bullshit,

Easy to ignore

Easier still to ignore it when it ceases to be a thing which is 99% of the time...

See it’s nearly time for 10 people in 200,000 to win a new mattress

I think it's interesting that it's specifically the ELETRIC Mini that they are trying to associate with parkrun. Parkrun clearly has a "healthy living, clean environment" sort of cachet. If that's what the marketing b*llocks type people ecall it. I quite fancy an electric Mini aksherly. :-) G

No doubt, the vehicle will be sporting green number plates, parking for free and using bus lanes with impunity.... ;)

I bet they don't bring an Electric Mini to Cleethorpes, just like they've never brought any marketing freebies, Olympians, or official or unofficial podcasts.

Which is a shame, because I'm actually in the process of working out exactly whether I can buy an electric car or not in the next 18 months...

Although, to be fair, the local mini dealer is less than a mile from my home, whereas parkrun is almost 6.
