I've cut & pasted part of the weekly news from our local parkrun. This was written by one of the core team members.

Unfortunately, this week’s event was rather marred by one of our volunteers being on the receiving end of some unpleasantness from two runners, so I would like to clarify two points:
1. Politeness, please!
parkrun is brought to you solely by volunteers and, as such, we do not tolerate aggressive behaviour or any form of abuse. Runners who behave in such a way will have their result removed, and the incident will be reported to parkrun HQ.
2. No barcode – no time – no exceptions
Please see the following advice from parkrun UK: We operate a strict ‘No printed barcode – No result’ policy at all our events. As our scanners are handheld and lower power, they can’t penetrate screens, so we can’t scan barcodes on smartphones or any other device.
If you have been told differently, you were misinformed. We are strict with regards to this policy as we process over 100,000 results every Saturday and if we were to relax this policy it would triple the amount of work for our volunteers.
Fortunately, it is easy to print off new copies of your barcode – follow the link in the weekly newsletter or old results email.

I’m volunteer coordinator again today. Let’s hope today is “incident” free.

I'm off to Northwich this morning and I feel the need to be extra nice to the volunteers today. Maybe hugging is too much?

I’ll be doing a very gentle parkrun at Witney this morning followed by the Oxford Greenbelt 10k at 11am. No PBs expected anywhere today!

Northwich is a good one, grew up round there. Friendly volunteers so Id imagine theyd be appreciative of a good hugging.

Northwich is great indeed Akie. I didn't get as far as hugging but did try to say thanks

It occurred to me that the timers at the finish might not get much thanks as everyone runs through the line without stopping.
