> Does anyone know of any interesting formulations of the parkrun athlete url Not from athlete URL but if you enter results-service.parkrun.com you get the global stats so last Saturday's record was 293,594 athletes and the figure of 340,000 used is with volunteers and junior parkruns: all valid but I find the other figure more interesting as it relates directly to the first 13 at Bushy Park. Volunteers were not recorded until 2006 and junior parkrun much later still. |

"compulsory (!) pre start photo" I'd stand in the middle then ask them to remove it from the web - citing the photography policy |

Policy says: "where someone does object then reasonable attempts should be made to avoid photographing that individual". I would routinely tell our photographers, when we have them, to not take pics of me. One week they thought it'd be `hilarious' to just snap away, when I was running. So every time I ran past the photographer I gave him two middle fingers - mature I know. Anyway, he just uploaded the entire memory card onto facebook, middle finger pics and all. i deleted them, but not before mates had screenshotted them.

parkrun is right to have a policy of removing photos that people don't want of themselves online from the parkrun accounts, but that is just in order to stop arguments. If someone takes your picture when you are parkrunning though and that picture ends up on the photographers Flickr account then it's tough, nothing you can do about it. The photo is owned by the photographer and you were in a public place.

What Spideog said. Furthermore should someone request that I remove a picture of themselves having stood in the middle of a group when knowing a photo was being taken I would refer them to the term "reasonable attempt" and give them the virtual middle finger.

I think like a lot of parkrun things the runners photographs thing has gone too far. For me the whole marathon photo industry style memento thing has gone too far, its a 5k FFS. . Unless you are someone with a mobility impairment then surely completing a 5k run/walk doesn't require photos and if it does get a friend or family member to take one. Someone taking a few snaps to add a bit of colour to a run report or to show recognition for something specific or to use on social media is far enough. There are also specific reasons why people may not be comfortable with having their photos taken including things that may impair their (or a family members) personal safety. |

I must admit as RD, I find having a photographer the last thing I worry about in volunteer roster

I'm in a FB group that had a post on new year starting with "i know they're volunteers but for f*ck's sake..." and complained about the fact that there were no good photos of her from her parkrun that morning she got the short shrift she deserved to be fair |

though- I do love seeing parkrun photos. It's a huge social thing for me every weekend and seeing nice (and often not so nice!) photos of me running with my friends is lovely. when I tail walk I sometimes take photos, but I wouldn't ever do it as a volunteer role- nice photos are a bonus not a necessity to me

Lol. Oh dear. There's a hilarious photo of me from last weekend looking as though I am about to blow my own head off from the tension in my neck. I think it's probably a very accurate image...
