57.5 Degrees of Pain
I didn't hang around Nessie, as I had a meeting in Inverness. Hopefully we can meet properly at some point! Did you see my 'wardrobe malfunction'? Had to tie my shoelace after one lap of the pond, costing me a chance to give Lucas some competition. As he is 1/4 of my age I will be a long way behind him soon.

I heard today that links to the milestone t-shirts expire after 8 weeks. Not sure if this is just in Aus or globally.

That is globally and was mentioned in part 2 of the Fetch interview. It's just so that they can get a better handle on how many tshirts people actually claim though and if they want them and to be able to control the stock levels. Rather than leaving your option to claim open permanently and so potentially restricting their ability to offer a tshirt to someone new they will expire your link after 8 weeks. You can still get your link reactivated though by contacting them. They also have the options of actually stating that you don't want the tshirt, in which case they would remove you from the waiting list, and of saying what size you require if it isn't available at the time you click the link. That would then put you top of the list when new stock arrives in, but also means that they get an idea of what sizes need ordering rather than the previous method where all they would know is that X people haven't claimed but no idea for why they hadn't claimed. |

I missed the shoelace - too busy blethering! I think Jack will be struggling to keep Lucas at bay for much longer - he's a serious talent that boy. At least I know what you look like now, so won't embarrass myself asking a random parkrunner if they are 57.5 degrees of pain.... ![]() njosmith - I think that's universal, so they don't hold back shirts for people who don't want them and can manage stock better. Not sure it's the best way (possibly better with a couple of email reminders, then deactivating the link), but I can see the reasoning behind it. |

That's just prompted me to look at my account, and going into "club progress" revealed a link to claim my 50 t-shirt. I hadn't had an email and it wasn't on the front page of my account. Done it now ![]() |

I am all for encouraging folks to volunteer or run parkrun but I think some events are already a bit overcrowded and do you want loads more folk turning up.

As evidenced by the post above, i haven't yet listened to Tom's interview so this might not be relevant but one area where it is possible that the benefits of volunteering are similar to the benefits of running are in Mental Health. I could imagine a number of scenarios where the opportunity to volunteer at parkrun might be the only social contact an individual has on a weekly basis. Just a thought.
