Oh and be careful at the start- you have to stand on the grass at the side of the path for the briefing and then easy to get boxed in and stuck behind people at the start which is quite narrow

How much time are we talking about though? I'd be surprised if a 2-lap course caused much overtaking problems (unless the start is hugely congested and you're stuck too far back). My local has 2 hairpin turns and a hill in each of 4 laps, even on a path that's narrow at times overtaking is the least of my problems :-) My PB there is a minute off my best flat 5k time...

Dulwich has works on the pathways so has asked people to take it easy. Not great for a fast effort at the moment Kwala :)

Thanks MN - useful advice. We are used to fairly crowded events. I think the ladies will all go on the front line or just behind.

It’s fairky narrow and people don’t stay left, so I would say you could lose a good few seconds- important potentially if going for a time!

I could have worded my post better - Southwark is a 3 lap. The fast runners hit the average runners from half-way through the average runners (my) second lap. Which is of course the third lap for the 18 min runners - sorry for not being clearer.

I know at many parkruns the slower runners move to the "wide" side, but that seems to happen less at Southwark on some of the lap (probably due to the nature of the turns it does have).

Re: the subject of cake we have a concrete ping pong table to serve drinks / cake on - for my 200th run I took a load of fruit (melon and pineapple we can cut up at the pavilion) and it was a roaring success so now we have fruit each week as well as cake. The lady who does the teas experimented with carrot sticks the other week but they didn’t go down too well.
