Thanks to volunteers at riverside when so many north east parkruns were cancelled. They were immense.

Went and did an inaugural parkrun today (Greendale Farm Shop parkrun, which hadn’t been kept quiet by the organisers) with a few friends. Absolute mud bath, which although good fun, is not my favourite conditions, but I did stay upright. My mate lives less than 10mins away, and it was his 250th, and then we stopped for breakfast afterwards, and he’d booked a table for 11 people.

Not many parkruns where you see lamas, ostriches, reindeer etc. If I go back in the summer in better conditions I imagine I’ll knock 15mins off of today’s time!

Quite a good idea for the farm shop to have a parkrun as I imagine they’ll do very well with breakfasts etc afterwards. They also have a takeaway coffee place that was open beforehand. Plenty of free parking and a nice event.

Sounds good, @Big_G. Similarly Loch Leven's Larder were right behind Loch Leven parkrun (helping fund the extra path required iirc) which gives them a nice boost for early Saturday morning.

Unfortunately, they had no llama or ostriches. Although they may have seasonal reindeer.

Sounds like a perfect parkrun Big G apart from the mud. Is that Exeter? A bit too far for me.

OO61, yes, Exeter. Maybe 2-3 miles from J30 on M5, and also not too far from Killerton parkrun.

Up until 10 weeks ago I’d done all the Devon ones. Simmons Park, near Okehampton, commenced and today was its 10th event but although I was told about it, I wasn’t able to make the inaugural so still have to do that one to complete the Devon “Whac-a-Mole” game again.

I didn't know you were such an enthusiastic parkrunner Big G. My daughter has done all the London ones (about 65). Every time they start a new one (like Battersea) she adds it to her to do list.

Yeah, pretty enthusiastic I guess. 62 locations and 10 countries - Austria, Germany (2), Finland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands (4), Poland, Sweden, USA, and GB. Should hopefully do Danish and Lithuanian parkrun events this year, alongside marathons in those countries. None of the events were really the main reason for being in that location, as I was there for other reasons, but I always look at the parkrun events list when travelling. However, when we were over in Europe in the van, I did plan driving routes to go past events in Germany and Italy, I confess! And the Japan one I did prioritise, even though I was injured. I have done my current home event 159 times, which is 1.5 miles away, so I guess I’m not an ubertourist.

I have the same philosophy G. Work the parkruns around holidays and travel. My wife recently reached 250 and me 500, so we are even more chilled now as there's not much to aim for. Keep up the good work 👍
