I had quite an amiable shift marshalling. Not cold, not wet, and no-one even looked like going astray (except for a dog) so it was basically clapping like a seal and making encouraging noises. One wrinkle was when a pickup truck with a council worker appeared and parked, taking up half the path. (I was just past the 3km mark, and it was a few minutes in.) I asked the worker (who was raking sand in the play park) how long he would be. "About half an hour". I then asked if he wouldn't mind moving the vehicle, and he did so. Great  Except ... he was only about ten minutes, then he got back in the pickup, turned it round, and drove back down the path in the opposite direction to the oncoming parkrunners. Oh well, I tried. Everyone survived. |

Three generations and 825 parkruns between us at Aberdeen today. Grandson (10) did his second adult run today and took 5 minutes off his previous time at Aviemore. After a pretty crap 6 months healthwise, I was delighted to finish with my best time this year, and indeed my best 5k time since 2018! |

Did my (arbitrary) 450th today so just over a year to go to 500. I managed 47parkruns and 81 volunteers this year, no missed Saturdays. Mrs C is very understanding!

31 parkruns and 30 volunteers for me this year. I'm stepping down from regular volunteering in 2025 to focus on more parkrun tourism and the gold parkrun obsessive challenge.
