I'm really glad to see it returning to the park, even if I probably never will. We all called it by the park name not the city name in the old days anyway 😀

Naming is funny - Pollok parkrun was nearly Glasgow Time Trial in 2008. But it could have cheekily and legitimately been called Scotland parkrun! But Edinburgh should have been called Cramond Prom parkrun really, as we have another now, and much more central to Edinburgh. :-) G

I think Edinburgh should rename as cramond now given the increased number of options. Holyrood though is fine as a name.

I guess if there was one in princes st gardens that could be called Edinburgh. I once did a three lapper three mile race there for comic relief with my son on the afternoon after an Edinburgh half so it’s not an impossible location. c2008 I reckon.

16/3/2008 and it was three miles in 33 mins but I had no garmin trace. IanS appeared to also do that race

I had run 1:29 in the morning and I recall it being 1.5 miles with wind advantage to cramond and then 11+ miles of hell into a wind to Musselburgh.

Wexford Racecourse (Johnstown at the time) parkrun still sticks in my mind years later - over for a HM in Dublin on the Sunday, and took the train down 'for the J'. My B&B hosts were perplexed that I didn't want a cooked breakfast, and just some cereal and a cuppa - I'd said that it was because I was going to go and do parkrun at Johnstown Castle (about a mile and a half away) - by the time I'd finished my tea, they were back - Paddy, (the brother of one of the neighbours, who was down to paint the neighbours house) is also a runner - so he's now been strong-armed into giving me a lift and come and run too

That's funny. Course was short the day I did it. I got a PB and stopped to tie my shoelaces.

You made me look Bazo - my first 5K in Sep 2008 was Meadows, the Sri Chinmoy series, before parkrun existed in Scotland! A Wed night and 50p if I recall correctly! :-) G

There are still some old events that have the town or city name which is fine if there isn't another one closer to the centre, but some should really be changed as they aren't close to the centre of the place they're named after.
Unfortunately it's up to the Event Team to make the decision, so far HQ haven't forced any changes, and some long standing Event Directors refuse to change.
