0061- the parkrun app is great. I use it quite a lot. 👌 It's a shame it only shows who has the course record. I liked to see the top 5 to 10. I was pleased to see I still have Alexandra parkrun in Manchester. A fast one to do if ever in the area! NZC - I turned 60 this year. I like to do all distances and this year even tried the 100m. I enjoyed the track not having done it for a few years and plan more of that next year. I think it will help to retain some pace in longer distances. I've also had technique coaching this year to look at reducing energy loss as I've found over the years bad habits become more evident in my stride. As long as I enjoy I'll put the work in. 👍 Canute - sometimes good to leave the Garmin at home if the aim is about strength building with low effort. Good news the knee is holding up! Solo - love the quiet Norfolk lanes! NZD - I do 100m strides. I think 200m for me would be more of a different kind of run. I've read typically they should be 20 - 30 secs. First miserable looking grey morning here in weeks with wind and threats of rain. Typical as I'm having a new front door fitted. 😅 Double recovery runs today. Morning Run with strides and afternoon run will be a social run. |

Enjoyed looking at the NZ parkrun stats, not least, as Hilly says, seeing how Darby and Oldroyd are doing! I use the 5k app, also, but not in much depth. Strides: I always considered them to be 60-80 metres, concentrating on form, with10 to 20 metres jog in. Wordle in three. Supposed to be at Old Trafford for the test... Might paddle there in a bit! |

alehouse - they're both still running well. Steve in particular after his health issues. JB watched a bit of the cricket on TV. It looked cold! |

I'm thinking of doing Barry Island parkrun on Saturday and was looking at age records when I came across this amazing F70! WP - hope your shoes help. |

@@NZD no pavements and very few cars. Enough houses dotted around to feel safe too. My strides tend to be short bursts of 20 to 30 seconds usually at the end of a run. Looking at the app I have a few records in my name too and definitely something to aim for now I know they exist! The parkrun I am hoping to do this weekend has quite a soft FV60 record but I could be pacing a friend if she feels brave enough! @Hilly amazing running at 74!!Windy but dry here and next week is looking very 🌞 @Welshpoppy I wish they would leave good shoes alone !! Hope the new ones help. |

@Solo I have run in same shoes since coming back to running post Achilles rupture . So to try to find a new shoe that ticks my boxes will be amazing. Going to go to big smoke when away in October to try lots on and see which will work best. I was always taught strides in 20 second bursts. |

Well I have "put a cat between the pigeons". What you guys call strides, I would probably call wind sprints. All I meant by strides was putting some effort into 2 minute bursts - trying to move the old body along a bit and having a wee rest in between. Any running seems hard to me these days - always a big step up from walking. I think as you get older you enjoy company more than results. Hilly - that is extremely fast for a W70. I do have a W75 friend who regularly gets over 90% AG at parkrun - maybe the older you get the easier it gets but although the numbers lessen the talent is still there. Welsh Poppy - it is so hard these days to find shoes that work for you - some of them look crazy to me - the soles are so thick I would think I would twist my ankle on them! |

7 km easy cafe walk with husband - the sun was trying it's best but still a chilly wind.
